I remember, years ago, I canoed on Klaune Lake in the Yukon. It was so clear and this beautiful color of blue. You could see so far down. Peaceful. Unfortunately the wind picked up rather quicly and we paddled quickly to shore before we ended up in glacier water. Burr.
I remember it to this day.
Another time I was fortunate enough to beable to take my horse to Long Beach on Vancouver Island. October. Tied a rope around the camp site, pitched the tent. The horse stayed in there with us. Went riding on the beach. Miles and miles of sand. Full moon and the tide was way out. Must admit though that every morning when I woke up there was this nice fresh pile of , shall we say, horse apples. lol
B.C has so many wonderful places to see and visit. One could spend alot of ones life just seeing this province. Who needs to leave Canada.
I would love to see other countries, don't get me wrong. But can't afford it. Places like Africa, South America.
I would love to see the different kinds of animals, bugs, people, cultures.
Oh well, perhaps when I win the lottery. lol

I am proud to be Canadian. I feel fortunate to be born in this wonderful country.
For me being Canadian is looking out for your neighbour, helping when help is needed even though someone hasn't asked for it. Random acts of kindness, smiling, respecting the beauty around us. Caring for the enviroment, the land, the animals, the whole country.
Having the freedoms that we have. Having a medical system. I know that some don't but alot do and I hope that all will in the very near future.
And so many more things.
I am proud to be Canadian

Morning,
Well the kids are back in school and guess what, I have a cold.
No big surprise.
I was wondering what methods other people might use to get rid of their colds.
I cut up garlic and take it about 3 times a day for about 3 to 4 days.
Most times it seems to lessen the cold/flu symptons.
And for sore throats I drink something hot with lemon and honey.

Morning,
Not sure if I have any recipes to share, at the moment, but I know I have some favourite foods.
My mom was from Europe so I eat lots of homemade things. Like homemade chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles. I remember eating bowls of that at christmas instead of turkey.
Saurekraut with ham and mashed pototes.
And I had the pleasure of tasting a scallop burger when I was back in P.E.I , years ago.
And bannok when I was in the Yukon. I tease everyone that comes down from the north that they have to make bannok when they come.
I will try and think of some recipes later when I have more time. But I am not sure if they will be Canadian.
As far as the comment about congregating in the kitchen. I miss it. We used to have a huge kitchen. You could sit at least 16 people at the table. We had an old natural gas stove/heater and beside it was a wood burner. Everyone would be in there. While food was being prepared the guitars came out and the tunes played. I miss those days.

I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but I can play the radio. lol
No seriously, took piano lessons when I was young. Played on of the old pump organs. We moved to much and mom and dad needed the money so they sold it. Then tried accordian, was just getting the hang of it but they couldn't afford the lessons any longer.
Tried the guitar, don't do too bad if I follow someone. Need to cut my nails though. Dolly Parton I am not, and I am talking about the finger nails not the chest. lol. Oh and I have a jews harp. somewhere.
You'd think with all the musical instrument we have in the house I'd play something. guitar, manolin, flute, clarinet, drums, fiddle, slide guitar. But no I play the radio and I don't even do that often. lol

To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the world.

Experience is what you gain after you need it.

Never explain, your friends dont need it and your emenies will not believe you anyway.

hello everyone here.
this is not a poem.
I just found out that Roy has deleted his profile. I was talking with him often. My name is Mary-Ann and I know that he mentioned me here once , to you guys. I worry about him and would like to know if you could pass a message on to him if any of you know how to get a hold of him.
He can write me at autumnmoring@yahoo.ca.
He and I are both widows and I have been able to help him and me because of our similarity.
Please let me know how he is doing. I know that he just went through another ruff patch.
thank you all
I have enjoyed reading all of the poetry that everyone posts.
thanks.
Mary-Ann
