hmm we dont have a law here anything remotely close to that but i do agree when the child himself or herself isnt mature enough to think and decide .. having the law on their side isnt always very positive.

Even today my brothers ( both teens now ) would never think of calling names to either parents well even me. I cant imagine my children doing that either. It will have to stop right then.

Exactly.. it's not always helpful.

Some years ago.. at a BIG meeting..

it was decided (not BY me) that it was ME that needed protecting.

The adult in the family.. HELLO?!?

and no I don't smack my children..
But believe me..

knowing what I know now.. had I had my time over with them..

yes I WOULD have..

and stopped it before it started.

and don't even TRY to tell me the Smacking leads to smacking crap..

I DO know what I should have done and how I should have handled this differently.

Part of my problem was/is always being such a 'soft touch' a walk over.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

But I don't want to talk about this.

Yes we raise them as best we can...

but when the law came out and said you cannot spank ur
child on the bum bum...or anything else..

Well that is what they use on me..

If you spank me i will call the police..

I said go ahead..i will help pack ur bags..
.

hahaah yeah..

It makes me laugh too..

I can see WHY there is that law..

BUT!!!!!

Does it mean.. that as parent you have to put up with verbal physical (and sometimes mental) abuse

from your child.. ???

That they can do and say anything they want.. with them safe in the knowledge that they have the law protecting them and the threat of a phone call.

Believe me.. I could write a BOOK about this subject.. It is something I have lived with for 6 yrs..

and I could go into a HUGE amount of detail here.. but I don't want to talk about it really.

But believe me.. I am ready to defend any narrow minded comments.. because I DO know very very well about this kind of thing.

really ?? i thought this was alarming enough .. ohh ..

Its basically a deficient family support system and parenting i think.

Not from me and my family members..

This has been the knock on effect of what happened while I was still married. What was seen observed learned from.

I have been in this situation for many years.. As you probably know I am a single mum.. I agree with what you are saying about raising children with consistency etc.. But consistency is not always possible in some relationships where children are being raised.

I find it hard to think it would happen much in a two parent stable upbringing.

Ofh I didn't explain that very well..

I meant... If the children spent most of their growing formative years in a VERY inconsistent upbringing.. (with two parents)

then these are sometimes the after effects.
