I have to disagree with laying your vulerabilities out there right away.......there are so many players who look for the weaknesses in others and then play upon them to gain their confidences. I'd say give that more time before divulging those. A truly insiteful person can sometimes see past the 'shell' we use to protect ourselves and understand why we feel the need to not open up so freely.

As far as the kisses and hugs go...........I think if it is made very clear from the beginning that you are in a 'getting to know one another' stage (building a friendship first), they can be given and received in just that manner. But if you are still hesitant, perhaps you could try these............

Darkhorseman: Now even the girls are getting nervous ... heh heh.

Monogamy could change to monotony if it is allowed to ... and it only needs one of the couple to allow it to. It could become a monpoly ... but it needs one to initiate and another to allow that. I guess I'm just not going to be able to fit the word commitment in here am I. Oh well ... never mind. I'll go back to making jokes.

professor If you play the word commitment going down and connected to one of the 'm' words (monogamy, monotony, or monopoly) and play it across a triple word score.........plus it's a 10 letter word........lemme see......that's worth about.........236 points!!!! dropping jaw Holy Cow!!!!!

Billy Joel - Just The Way You Are

Don't go changing, to try and please me
You never let me down before
Don't imagine you're too familiar
And I don't see you anymore
I wouldn't leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, I'll take the bad times
I'll take you just the way you are

Don't go trying some new fashion
Don't change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care

I don't want clover conversation
I never want to work that hard
I just want someone that I can talk to
I want you just the way you are.

I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew
What will it take till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you.

I said I love you and that's forever
And this I promise fromhe heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.

Indyfella: Dear Tide:

I am writing to say what an excellent product you have! I've used it all of my married life, as my Mom always told me it was the best. Now that I am in my fifties I find it even better! In fact, about a month ago, I spilled some red wine on my new white blouse. My inconsiderate and uncaring husband started to belittle me about how clumsy I was, and generally started becoming a pain in the neck. One thing led to another and somehow I ended up with his blood on my new white blouse! I grabbed my bottle of Tide with bleach alternative! to my surprise and satisfaction, all of the stains came out! In fact, the stains came out so well the detectives who came by yesterday told me that the DNA tests on my blouse were negative and then my attorney called and said that I was no longer considered a suspect in the disappearance of my husband.

What a relief! Going through menopause is bad enough without being a murder suspect! I thank you, once again, for having a great product.

Well, gotta go, have to write to the Hefty bag people. Capitalism creates great products!

One more fine example of 'It pays to buy the name brand over the generic imatations'. professor

What can I say??? dunno

Claayer: There is a woman that lives in my little town. She is a single mum .. and had twins.. (one of each) then a little boy.. She draaaaaaaaagggged those children up. They have lived the way some of us have already said.. Mum didn't give a shit... spent 95% of the time absolutely off er face on Meth (mostly) .. One of the 'locals' .. found the youngest .. 2yr old boy walking around the town in the middle of winter.. in his little PJ's and bare feet.... hey took him home.. and his mum was of her head with a bunch of others in the front room. I remember the mum once.. asking a 15 yr old boy to look after ALL THREE tiny kids once..

she came back... 10 days later!!
One of my friends is a teacher at the school.. and said the older twins come in each day so dirty and hungry.. that the teachers try not to cry some mornings as the they feed the kids and put on clean DRY underwear on the kids (most days).. BEFORE the kids can even go into class. The mum (often) doesn't show up to pick them up from school.. and they have sat there before for a few hours before she finally wobbles up to the gates.

The police have been involved with them all countless times.. as have the Social Services..

Hello?!?

Then you have friend of mine.. whose little boy was playing on his rocking horse in the front room (lounge).. fell off.. and his backside shot throo the glass on the stereo cabinet.. BAD cut.. and a hospital visit.

Just once.. just one incident..

and the Social Services were on his parents like a tonne of bricks.

HELLO?!

In the state of Arizona, as with most states, it is the LAW that if you work with children in ANY capacity, be it teaching, child/daycare, youth groups, counseling, Sunday school, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, sports.....whatever.....if you even SUSPECT neglect or abuse, you are required by law to report it to CPS.
To some of you this may sound frightening, that some disgruntled or simply over zealous neighbor could call CPS every time your child falls down, gets a spanking, or has a tantrum loud enough to be heard for blocks. But in this day and age, with all that goes on in this world, I'm sensibly going to lean in the BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD! Who knows.....your child could be one of the one's unbeknownst to you, that is being abused by an older sibling......a trusted relative......a neighbor......or even a spouse. I'd want to know.......wouldn't you????

I've seen the same things happen time and time again here in the states. Children who are seriously neglected and/or abused and nothing is done until it is too late. And truly good, conscientous parents under investigation because of a childhood accident or as Ras said earlier, for spanking (not beating), their child/children. AND YES.....read your state statutes......you can spank your children without fear of going to jail.
I have heard many a horror story about innocent parents having their children taken away and placed into foster care by Child Protective agencies. But in all the years I have had dealings with these agencies on a professional level, at the time of the incident there apeared to be an immediate need to remove the children for their safety and well being. In some cases, after investigatin, the children were returned to their parent(s) in a very short amount of time. In others it took longer because there was a history or background of suspected abuse or neglect. And in others, the charges were found to be true and the children were removed either long term (until the parent(s) could complete drug/alcohol treatment, parenting classes, or simply prove that their home was a safe and healthy enviroment for the children (i.e....move the live-in paroled child molesting boyfriend out, clean and exterminate the home, put groceries in the refridgerator and on the shelves, provide proof of adequate child care for the children while working and NOT leaving them attended by a 10 year old cousin, etc.) Worse case scenario, all charges , accusations and more were found to be true and the children were permanently removed.

David Pelzer wrote a series of 4 books (A Child Called "It"', 'The Lost Boy', 'The Privilege of Youth', and 'A Man Called Dave') about his terrifying childhood filled with abuse and his gradual healing and growth into manhood. Then his brother, Richard B. Pelzer wrote 'A Brother's Journey'..........All 5 books highly recommended reading for anyone who is, or who loves someone who is trying to overcome the horrors of their childhood.
These men are perfect examples of what a difference early dedicated and unconditional intervention called LOVE and CARING can mean in a child's life. Truly couragous young men!
