Thank you Sweetykat for letting me know that I have an option for my emails so that I can receive messages from people I am realistically able to meet.

I am sure the overseas people are nice people, but I am simply uninterested in corresponding with someone I do not have a realistic chance of meeting in the near future. I am sure their intentions are honorable in many cases, but I want to be with someone from my own part of the country. A virtual relationship with someone far away does not make sense to me. I'd rather have personal interactions with someone from nearby.

I am sorry I had to vent about how I was feeling, and I was looking for just the kind of information that Sweetykat was kind enough for me to provide.

Once I edit my email I can then fix my profile so that I don't have to tell anyone from overseas that I don't wish to hear from them because they would be unable to access my address.

Thank you for writing even if to tell me offcomfort

I am SICK of hearing from people outside the United States. I DONT want to hear from some knucklehead in Sweden, Africa, Russia or any other country not called the USA. WHY are you bothering to write to someone who SPECIFICALLY says in her profile that she does NOT want to hear from people outside her local region within the USA, let alone another country!?

I am SICK of you guys wasting my precious time with sending me useless emails.

BE REALISTIC and write to people IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY. It's better for you to focus on someone nearby who you can meet IN PERSON.

As I wrote above, I am only interested in someone I can DATE AND RELATE TO IN REAL LIFE.

FED UP!

I just got an email from some guy in Sweden. What the heck are these people THINKING? I have NO interest in hearing from someone who is overseas. Is there a way to block people from overseas or from too far away to meet in person? I am here so that I can meet someone who is REAL not someone who is far away!

very mad

The possibility of moving to New York City is very real at this time and I am focusing more of my attention in that direction for that reason. However, Massachusetts is only a couple hours' drive away and easy enough to get to when I am not working or attending classes. I would like to hear from people in NY, Connecticut or western Mass.

In response to:
get the F-off my lawn, lol - and take "W" back with you
I agree 100% get W out of here :-)

Seriously, I would talk with the aliens (assuming they have a Universal Translator) and ask them to help us with the things our sad world needs help with.

I would cook up a nice dinner for them and show them around, while also asking them to show me the features of their ship.

Offering friendship I think would be the best way to go.

If their world is a peaceful one with better opportunities, I would go with them.

Why is it that when I put up a profile here or anywhere else, I get messages and winks from guys who are divorced with kids even though I specifically state in my profile that I am NOT interested in dating guys who are divorced with kids????!!! I will NOT make special exceptions for ANYONE in this case. I AM open to dating widowers with older kids, or any guy with no kids. I just don't feel that I can handle the issues that arise with a guy who is divorced with kids, and don't want to deal with it. I wish guys would READ profiles and respect our feelings!

I like daytime so I can see the pretty flowers in bloom in the spring, the leaves turning color in the fall.

Why do divorced guys with kids write to me even though I specifically state in my profile that I don't want to hear from divorced dads? It's driving me NUTS!!

In response to:
As the offspring of a former Humane Society director, I'll spit my two seconds.

Odds are good that landlords and folks in general would be more accepting if owners were more responsible.

Stereotypically, you don't take time to train the dog, it's a bad dog and they're disposable. Don't have room for them or they're not allowed, they're disposable. They trash the place for lack of training, dog gets beat, disposable, and upon leaving the place is left in shambles. Or they're left to roam and aggravate the neighborhood and owner doesn't give a flip.

Fight for rights, but enforce more harsh penalties for careless, reckless owners that haphazardly get that "cute little puppy" out of boredom or without thought to the responsibility involved.

Yup, I'm done.
I agree 100%. Getting a pet is a serious responsibility, and a well-trained dog is an excellent companion.

I want to get a dog when I move to the NYC area. I am thinking about getting a miniature poodle and naming him "Fang". I'll tell people, "Watch out, I have a dog named Fang back at the house". When they see that Fang is only a harmless poodle, I just want to see their reactions!!

While I love Stargate Atlantis (I"ve had the honor of meeting Rachel Luttrell, who stars in that show), I do believe that the stars are too far apart to realistically have aliens coming here and us going out there.

I do not know where Atlantis was, but I do find the idea very intriguing. As for the people, I don't know.

I do believe that there are other people in the galaxy but they are no more likely to come here than we are to visit them. The nearest intelligent race of people are probably too far away to get here, so I don't worry too much about alien invasions. They make for great stories, but that's all they are. Stories.

Coke is it! I like Diet Coke, especially the lemon or lime flavored varieties.

But there's nothing like a latte, hot chocolate or vanilla flavored coffee!!

teal is a pretty color. I find that it's easy on the eyes yet has enough brilliance to get one's attention. I've set my computer colors to teal because I like the soothing calm the color expresses.

I also like different colors for different applications. For walls I tend to like neutrals but I like to highlight the room with a few bright accents. Some good accent colors are red or orange.

For clothes, I tend to lean toward soft pastels for sweaters but more conservative colors for slacks, such as tan or denim.

Color, now that's a topic I can set my eyes on!! I could go on for days about color. I won't bore you with it all but above is a sampling of my thoughts.
