so there we are then. if you ever wondered why she always poured the tea before adding the milk, it was because of her social standing - and the fact that she could afford ceramic cups. did she drink with her little finger held up?

Most definately...and she would ge on your case if your elbows were on the table...and if you ate anything with your fingers...and if you used the salad or dessert fork not in the right order...and the napkin always went on your knee before any food in the mouth and never ever wipe hands on the close or table cloth...but all in all she was very loving though. She did it because she cared about us and yes i went through it. and i thank her now because if i were ever to be put in a position. I could make it through and know what to do. angel grin

hmmmmm.......and did she come from a wealthy background? just interested. i doubt if anyone really notices or even cares these days but it is quite fascinating

They were not as kids they were of middle class.

then my aunt became the first woman manager of Birks jewelers and well look out the high class was introduced and she taught the whole family ettiquette and banquette dining procedures and everything like that. We used to joke that all the kids had to go thru Auntie's ettiquette class through before you graduate....LOL laugh

Well we all look at looks....Admitt it we do. but i think the way a man treats you, acts, speaks, can make him so much more attractive! If he treats you like crap or talks down to you it is not appealing at all. Neither is the gutter or cussing mouth.....angel

ok i found something on it. believe it or not, the way you pour tea in the uk is an indication of your social class In Britain and some Commonwealth countries, the order in which the milk and the tea enter the cup is often considered an indicator of social class. Persons of working class background are supposedly more likely to add the milk first and pour the tea in afterwards, whereas persons of middle and upper class backgrounds are more likely to pour the tea in first and then add milk. This is said to be a continuing practice from a time when porcelain (the only ceramic which could withstand boiling water) was only within the purchasing range of the rich - the less wealthy had access only to poor quality earthenware, which would crack unless milk was added first in order to lower the temperature of the tea as it was poured in

WoW! Interesting....my grandmother did the tea first and so did her sister.

Well i wasnt saying "Abuse!!!" I do not like being asociated with that comment. When we were younger we wouldnt dare. There are children who have no consiquence or disapline. They are growing up rude, and aweful adults. I was refering to disapline not abuse.
They are figuring they can do what ever they want and not have any sort of reprcusion. The courts are letting them walk and look at the kid in BC who was attacked with a mashette. The kids walked out of court afterward laughing at their minimal sentences. Rude, violence,no respect...and it is getting worse.
It makes me sad to think of this and i do not feel safe either.....crying

You know...Look at all the violence in shows that we used to sneek outta bed to watch! these shows have changed since i was younger and a lot worse?

Add that to all these kids being put on anti-deppressants and the warnings of psycotic episodes and deeper sucidal tendencies in younger children.

And not being able to give them a good smack on the ass!!

Sounds like a recipe for disaster.....?

God if i even tried to do any of this when i was little it was a one way ticket to kick my ass town! laugh

This is a question that has plagued me too? well i have no answer any which way? all i know is that yes there is a lot of users and abusers out there and I know I am tired of that. but I am also finding a lot just plain giving up or shutting down because they think it wont get any better leaving the good people saying what?
