There's a similar post to this, in the International forums. I'm interested as to your views regarding such. I've actually copied & pasted my response from International, as a starting point. Some of my views, may come across strong, but I can assure you, I'm not racist, as my dad's Polish. q=o)
I'm not racist, but I don't take to kindly to those seeking asylum for the wrong reasons. If they're genuine, fair enough. What annoys me, is that single mothers get LESS benefit than an asylum seeker. Ask yourself, if we as individuals were to emigrate to another country, would WE be given state hand outs by the foreign government? NOPE. Certainly not. I'm speaking for the UK in general, as that's where I reside, The UK's basically opening its arms to asylum seekers, giving them their life on a plate! Another issue, let's say if I were to move to pakistan, do you think that they'd apprieciate it if I were to keep English as my primary language? I think not!. Another issue, the UK's ending up with ghetto style communities, (Source: Google) basically, there's little pockets of different ethnic communities appearing, dividing white / black into different communities. I'd like to see the distribution of asylum seekers more spread out, no offence, but where I live, they've more or less taken over a street called Cromwell Crescent. Walk down that street at night, you're called a white Paki. Know what happens if you say something back to them? You get the stiff upper hand of the law... All I can think is, instead of calling me a white Paki, maybe you should think yourself lucky that you're even in England .... not all asylum seekers are bad, but the MAJORITY that I have seen are.
I am not racist ether, but my daughter was in an abusive relationship and she moved to a battered womans shelter, she had no money and asked the social services for help for herself and her son, they said it would take six weeks before she would get any financial help, so she asked if she could get some food vouchers to take to tescos, the answer she was given by the person who saw her was, I will have to speak to my manager as we are only allowed to give them to asylum seekers, I wont print my answer to that one,but it certainly changes my views on a lot of things.
