Can a person succeed in changing their partner to conform with their ideals of how he should treat her.

My personal opinion is that you cannot change anyone but you could make suggestions for change and hope that if he/she cares enough then they will try to do things differently to keep you happy.

my belief is that if we want our partner to change something for us then all we can do is ask and as you say raina, if they care enough and want to make the change all well and good.

if not, then we have to ask ourselves 'do i love this person enough to live with them the way they are right now?'

i hear a lot of women say that their partners have so much potential . . "if only they would get their act together".

its futile to fall in love with 'potential'. you have to accept someone with all their faults . . if you cant then its time to let go and move on . . no matter how much you care about them.

Are women serious when they say that a sense of humor is more important than good looks?

I haven't found that t be true.

i broke up up with someone about 15 months ago . . . i miss them so much . . . but i think what i miss the most is laughing . . he used to make me laugh all the time . . he was really funny in a very dry way

and i think i miss that . .the laughter more than anything else . . even the sex . . which was damn good.

lets face it . . we can do most things for ourselves!!! but its kinda hard making ourselves laugh.

at the risk of losing all credibility on here . . .i happen to know three different people, (all very sane and down to earth) who have seen "UFO's" recently. in fact just before i saw this thread i was thinking about starting one asking if anyone else had seen anything recently.

In another site I asked this same question as a thread topic an got really mixed reviews...

Lets try it here on CS and se ewhat happens...

hmmmm . . this is an interesting one for me . . . i'm quite tall for a woman, 5'9" and for some reason short guys seem to be really attracted to me, and after falling in love with someone a long time ago who was only 5'4" and having a great relationship with him its made me kinda not too concerned with the outward appearances which i think is what puts a lot of women off going with someone shorter.

anyway since that first one i've actually gone out with several shorter guys.

now heres the really interesting bit . . invariably they have made much better lovers . . . short guys are so much better in bed. and i have a friend that says exactly the same thing.

and i think nicole kidman might know what i'm talking about too. . her men always seem to be shorter .

(I have an adage of my own. A black man makes you feel like a queen, but you know that he has 4 other women in his life as well as you. A white man treats you like shit, but he is faithful......)

the question has to be asked . . what is love?

ask ten different people and you are likely to get ten differnt answers . . love means so many different things to people.

and there have been many terrible things done in the name of love.

at this point in history very few people are evolved enough to love one another . . just because we have strong feelings for someone doesnt mean its love.

i believe the closest we come to it is a mothers love for her child. and even that is not always the case . . some mothers cant stand their children.
