Nettermann: because mankind is so stupid to destroy its own living space and the living space of all the animals just because humans are too greedy and hoggish.

I agree that mankind is a destructive force on this earth and that there are many environmental issues that should be dealt with... but what does that have to do with the topic of being a hunter, a meat eater or a vegetarian?

I´m sure that you use electricity and probably drive a car or use public transportation...(even if you ride a bike the rubber from your tires is dangerous to the environment) you live in a home that has displaced animals... we all take from the environment and it should be done in a more responsible manner but the fact that you are a vegetarian does not make you any less damaging to the world we live in.

...and animal babies are left without mothers or mothers without babies in nature through the natural predatory system... Why do you make such an issue of mankind being a part of that natural system?

Nettermann: so because i kill some animals unintentionally gives me the right to contribute to the killing and harming of animals even if dont need to eat meat to stay healthy? To be a vegan at 100 % is impossible nowadays, even for testing the quality of water animal experiments are applied. But i can try to avoid everything that is possible to be avoided to avoid harming and murder of animals.

We are a part of nature and the cycle of nature... by creating our homes and cities natural predators have been killed off, if not for hunters deer would become extinct due to the destruction of their environment. Dogs can get by on a vegetarian diet but it´s not what they are by nature... they are carnivores. Do you get upset when a lion kills for food? Man has incicors... hence we are by nature carnivores. I hate cruelty to animals and despise the "feed lot" system of raising beef and the systems in place for "growing" chickens and producing eggs. I was raised on a farm where we produced our own food with free range cattle and chickens and have no problem eating what we raised and still try to purchase products when ever possible that are organic and free range... but I am a meat eater and do not apologize for being so.

Nettermann: ok thanks for your answer and good to see that you are not an hypocrite By the way i take from Mother Earth that is true but i prefer not to harm or to kill other living creatures on earth

I get so pissed at vegetarians that claim they don´t kill living creatures in the consumption of their food. Have you ever seen a field that has been plowed??? The devastation to the animals that have their burrows and homes in the field is horrible. Little furry creatures sliced and diced by plows... at least the death of a cow is quick... some of these little creatures lie in agony for hours before they die after being plowed up and injured... so please don´t preach that your way of life doesn´t harm other living creatures!!!!

Nature is what it is... we all survive off of other species on the earth and our presence alone destroys other life. The land we take to create our homes takes it away from creatures that would have lived there etc. so you are being a hypocrite when you claim that by being a vegetarian you don´t harm or kill other living creatures!

This reminds me of a situation last year when someone did a cut and paste and was complimented for such a well written and thought out reply... and said thank you. Shortly after someone posted the cut and paste with the appropriate reference....Busted!!!! laugh

Your Independence Level: Very High
You do things your own way. Even if everyone else thinks you're wrong.
You cherish your freedom, and you resent rules.
No one knows what's right for you as much as you do.
You can take care of yourself... and you do a mighty fine job of it.

Hmmmmmmmm I think I´m seeing a trend here.... could this be why we´re all still single???? A bit toooooooo independent maybe? laugh

Then I guess you need to answer your own question... Which is more important to you...

Having a boyfriend or respecting your mom?

As several people have stated... cultural and family lifestyles come into this question but also finances come into it as well. Are you still financially dependent on your parents? If so then they have a lot to say about how you live your life and what you do. If you are financially independent than you should have more freedom to make choices in your life.

Your Personality is Very Rare (INTP)
Your personality type is goofy, imaginative, relaxed, and brilliant.

Only about 4% of all people have your personality, including 2% of all women and 6% of all men
You are Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Perceiving.

Gotta love that whole "brilliant" thing... laugh

morgan5: Honestly, to me it brings back alot of bad memories.

Just think it places people under alot of stress and is a miserable time for many that are alone

Hi Morgan wave

For me there aren´t any bad memories of Christmas, I was lucky with my family and it´s around the holidays that I miss them the most.

I think for people who do have bad memories they can take the opportunity around the holidays to create the Christmas that they want and start new traditions in their lives... the joys of being an adult... you get to choose who you spend holidays with, especially if you live in a country away from your family! laugh

SummerUK: I always wondered what the real story was to thanksgiving... Thanks for sharing that

You´re welcome... a typical Thanksgiving dinner for me consists of... Turkey, Mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, green beans, stuffing, gravy, cranberry, pecan pie and pumpkin pie... it´s a bit of an effort trying to find all the ingredients in Ibiza... but I manage to pull if off every year with a bit of creativity! laugh

illu_66: We DO??

I thought it was getting crap pressies, watching the kids play MORE with the packaging more than the gift itself, watching The Sound of Music, Drinking Advocaat for the ONLY time that year because the Creme de Menthe has run out, Stuffing WAAAAY too much, rich food and falling asleep in front of the Queen's speech, with a plate of mince pies on your lap, whilst still wearing a slightly ripped paper hat (askew) and a plastic clip-on moustache!

Or is it just me?

.... ok, I guess the Brits have managed the same level of commercialism as the States....laugh

Ziva1: Thanks for that...........

Well that is what we do at Christmas....just gratefull for the little things in Life....espically of being together..

Christmas must be different in Finland than it is in the States... there it seems to be all about presents and Santa. I have to say that I enjoy Christmas much more in Spain than I did in the US. I guess Europe hasn´t brought commercialism to the holiday to the same extent.

Ziva1: I never did understad what Thanksgiving is all about really, guess I never witnessed it either.... what is it about????? OK call me dumb...

The original Thanksgiving took place on the east coast of America when the pilgrims were first arriving... they encountered a lot of difficulties and would probably have died off but for the help of the Indians who showed them what foods were good to eat and how to trap and kill the appropriate wild life for food etc. So at the end of the year they had a huge feast... Pilgrims and Indians to give thanks.

Unfortunately the Indians would have been better off if they had allowed the first Pilgrims to perish as the "white man" would up killing off the Indians in the end....

But the Holiday it´s self is lovely... like I said it´s all about gathering people together to share food and to take a moment to reflect and be thankful for all the good things in their lives.
