Grandepensees: Yeah, let's blame the fathers, after all, they're never there.
And if they are, they're too self absorbed or mean or emotionally blocked to show his little girl any affection.
Sure, let's propagate the myth.
The more I live the more I wonder what we men are for. We do nothing but hurt the ones we're supposed to love because we're so childish and immature, we have no concept of society and sisterhood, no thought but for the next drink and the next fling.
And if he does have a good relationship with his daughter, he's not raising her properly because he's not supposed to be her friend, he's supposed to be her dad.
I'm sure I've forgotten some things, but don't point it out, I'll forget anyways.
there are a lot of good guys out there. when i raised my kids (alone) and would take them to the parks or whatever, i would see dad's with their little girls and boys. i would actually feel jealous of those kids cause my kids didn't have that.
but, as far as the questions presented by this lady, i do believe that both parents in a child's life would be the best. but, if it cannot happen, i believe that children learn by example, a good, moral person--be it mom, dad, or grandma--is what is most important.
