All quite humourous, but if this was written two thousand years ago, a large percentage of the planet would not only believe in it, but would also follow it and kill for it.

Have to admit, people are funny.laugh

brandycuba: I can accept others believing whatever they like, it makes no difference to me whatsoever. It's your life, and you're free to live it however you wish.

The thing I have a problem with is people trying to indoctrinate others through fear and consequence to believe as they do. It's preying on people's weaknesses, and usually works the best when they're at a low point in their lives.

I see religion salesmen as being equally as bad as the creep on the corner pushing crack to kids. You may find that harsh, but it's the way I feel about it.

If you're that weak in your own faith, that you have to try and convince others that you're right, then you have nothing.

I wouldn't agree that those of us who are trying to tell others about Christ on here are weak in our faith, we have something very real and only want to share it with others. It is your choice rather you accept it or not. The bible says if you have faith the size of a mustard seed you can move mountains, have you ever seen a mustard seed? A small amount of faith goes a very long way with Jesus.

Why can't you believe in yourself? Or other people? It can't be that much bigger a leap of faith than believing in something you can't qualify or quantify?

People are real, and right there in front of you, as you are yourself. Have some faith in yourself, and your own ability to discern good from bad, you don't need someone else to tell you you're bad, and are going to hell. laugh

Heaven and hell are all in your head, where do you want to reside?bouquet

sky_blue_eyes: But I'm not trying to push my beliefs on to anyone. I'm just open about what I believe. I'm not one of those people that will walk up to you on the street, grab your hand and say"do you know the Lord?" That's happened to me....people assume because I have a tattoo and piercings that I'm not Christian but I am. Which I know would aggravate some religious people. My mother said I was "ruining my temple"....I just told her the same thing that her ex-husband told her...."no, I'm not. I'm decorating it."
It's not a matter of being weak in faith. It's evangelism. People find what they're looking for in their beliefs, and they want to show others because they are confident that it will others. So I believe that takes a great amount of strength and will-power.

I have no doubt that it does take strength and will power, but couldn't those efforts be better put to use in other ways?

Evangelism is nothing more than selling, same as Amway. It's a system created by men to grow "the flock" and get the numbers up for this "spiritual warfare" crap that some spew on about. What it really is, is who gets to control the herd, nothing more.

Doesn't anyone ever wonder why polics and religion are so closely tied to one another, and even mirror each other in so many ways?

"Free your mind, your ass will follow"

God I love that line. laugh

sky_blue_eyes: I'm not saying one book is better than another. I have my beliefs and opinions and so do you. So obviously we accept the consequences for our beliefs, whether good or bad.
Anyways, I could debate this for hours on end...but unfortunately I'm sick right now and I need to lay down.

rizlared: I agree, my god, as such, resides within me, he/she/it gives me the strength to move forward in my life and is totally dependable.
The only person you can ever call upon to give support and help and never let you down is your inner self, as long as you are alive so is your inner spirit.

sky_blue_eyes: So....in other words....you give up...and personally I think that that is just an excuse because you don't want to change and you don't want to learn all you can....maybe because you have better things to do...
Personally....I know there's a God because my life gets crummy when I don't pray. When I do pray, life's much better. Try debunking someone's discernment AFTER a psych eval.....there's no way you can debunk something like that.

Oh no, far from it, I've never given up, I'll never stop learning, or changing either.

One thing you are correct on, I have better things to do.

No point in debating which book/faith is better than the other, that's like debating whether Apocolypse Now is better than Fast Times at Ridgemont High.rolling on the floor laughing

seveneyes: Dude, can you tell me how to grow limbs back for the disabled then? The claim you just made makes you look like you think that YOU are the messiah!

That messiah stuff is all crap, there is no such thing.

All those books, written by man, all simply to control other men.

Man is just trying to understand and explain what he already knows, but can't accept, because he can't understand or explain it.

Why fight? Just accept it, and go on with life. dancing

Oh, limbs don't grow back, that's a faerie tale.laugh

seveneyes: lol, does atheism attract pessimists or create them? Just messin with ya my friend. Please see that your lack of knowledge and your chosen belief system may preclude you from actually understanding certain spiritual realities...

I have a deeper spiritual understanding than you may wish to believe, and none of it comes from a book written by man, or force fed by controlling lunatics.

Everything you've ever wanted to know, resides within you, no external sources are required.
