the most obvious of them all was the complex of such houses used in the filming of one of the Star Wars series.....

it has now been turned into a resort of sorts, and one can actually stay in such places while on holiday....if not mistaken in Tunisia...

us maltese (and Gozitans) are kind of a curios bunch uc...

we like to know what's going on around us......

so when something new like internet takes hold, we sort of get in all the folds and cracks....

but seriously.....

considering we live on two pieces of rock in the middle of nowhere....

with no particular raw material or other rresources to speak of....

also the most population per square mile in EU....

and also having been only independent since the mid sixties....

weeeeellllll....

all in all I believe we have done quite well for ourselves....

How funny....

GAS here simply refers to LPG, actual cooking gas......the rest we call petrol or diesel.....

....and the gas truck has just done it's rounds and for a 30 ltr. tank just paid Euro6.75....whatever that makes it in dollars....

as far as the car is concerned....Euro20 gives me a three quarter tank in a Seat Ibiza.....

too early to work that out in dollars per litre........

Heq.....if you want hot and sunny for sure got to be souterhn hemisphere for Xmas....

I personally would opt for one of two choices.....

South Africa is incredible.....althou don't know the situation there right now, since it's been a while I was there....but still would check it out...Cape Town is more 'english' in feel, Durban is very asiatic, Johannisberg is very Dutch.....obviously within the context of being soooooo Africa......to discover

Or New Zealand......haven't ever been yet......but got the feeling it is a very balanced country with a chunk of territory designated as natural heritage parks, would be fine for my tastes.

Most of the exotic island holiday scenarios such as Maldives and so on are generally geared for couples rather then single people....so may be boring if alone....

Saw this on RAI 3 (Italian National TV) news this evening.....

Last night a candle light vigil was held in Moscow in memory of those who died in the georgia escapade. Thousands attended the ceremony.

Most present were not old die hards of a Russian regime we seem to all imagine.

These were all teenagers, who have grown up with the western culture that has evolved sine the fall of the Berlin Wall. They dress like us, they look like us, and they act like us. They are no different then any other western bunch of kids in a square.

And you know what they said when interviewed?

They are proud to be Russian, and they will not accept being pointed out as villians by the rest of the world.

I wonder......could this be an offshoot of a certain lady trying to be elected vice president shooting her mouth off about attacking Russia if necessary?
