I don't entirely agree.

True that in most cases of male violence it is physical abuse that occurs. I do not agree however that the woman is unable to get away. Over here we have been trying to tackle this domestic violence business for a while, and the network of support is now such that it is entirely up to the women to make the first step to move out of such a situation.

On the other end, it is also as true that in most cases of female violence this tends to be of an emotional nature. I have seen grown man that may seem to be pampered husbands on the outside, but then you get to know them you realise they lead as miserable a life as a battered wife due to an overbearing and 'violent female partner.

The tongue can inflict as deep a wound as a physical abuse. Especially over an extended period of time. It destroys the moral, self-esteem and possible growth of an individual. In one extreme case I had the misfortune to meet, it ended in the man committing suicide. And we are not talking of a twenty year old here either. Somebody my age.

This topic has rarely been discussed openly or given as much attention as abuse perpetuated by the male on the female. But it is as serious a social problem as all violence in the home.

We unfortunately live in a world that is loosing sight of such situations. Maybe we are going ahead too fast, dunno.

Got an idea!!

Why don't we start producing T-shirts with large DOM or DOL printed in large fonts on the front and Dirty Old Man/Lady on the back???

If every one of us die hards at CS buys one, we'll become rich I guess!!!

Wow!!!

Hello again all.

I read all entries from where I left off yesterday and again wow!!

Funny isn't it how we humans seem to want to find a reason for everything. An explanation.

The more we get to learn the more we understand how little we really know. And we seem to have messed things up no end.

In the short period of human scientific evolution, a few hundreds of years, we have successfully brought chaos to an ecosystem that took billions of years to evolve.

Now we have also started meddling with the very essence of molecular life as we know it and understand it.

Maybe we enjoy thinking that we are smart enough to play God?

How can we ever be so presumptious as to assume that we can define that which we cannot understand?

Just a quick in and out really....ther's the Simpson's on telly.....

Dunno....I guess the fact that women saw the man with another lady sort of brought out a ting of green??? ergo lower votes?

But maybe it's also got to do with men psycology. Maybe if they give high marks they get to be noticed better??



And I wouldn't imagine that a man is going to give higher votes to another man then a women I guess.....so long as hetrosexual of course

Tend to agree.

Maybe religion, in all its colours, serves the need of order within a particular society. Abiding by the rules laid down by the 'commandments' of that religion makes it possible to live in harmony.

Once again, the equation tends to point always in one direction.

Am myself agnostic, but had an interesting chat with a Catholic priest once on the subject.

In general this is what he taught me.

An old lady, nearing the end of the journey, went to him and gave him what to her was an extremely precious thing. Her wedding ring. She wanted to do this becasue she wanted to make peace with God. It was the only way she felt she could.

Her children got to know of this, and they went to face the priest with thier anger. They wanted the ring since it was thier mother's.

What stand was he to take?

Face the anger and make enemies of the children by refusing?

Or give them the ring and disillusion an old women who knew she was near the end and wanted peace with God?

God may have different versions, models, and colour.

But at the end of the day God is the peace within.

So much harm has been done by us humans in the name of God, that it defies trying to decipher 'IT/HIM/HER' in words.

The dream may be over.
But HOPE for the better is not.
Differnet names have been given to GOD throughout the ages, and still it remains a mystery.

Have tried an experiment these last couple of weeks with uploaded profile photos.

1: First placed the current for a few days
2: Replaced with a black and white personal
3: Changed again with a local scene of home
4: Replaced with a summer shorts personal

And the results ensuing are:

1: 26 votes average mark: 6.38
2: 7 votes average mark: 6.7
3: 6 votes average mark: 4.67
4: 12 votes average mark: 5.58

How funny. Don't know a lot of compiling stats, but I guess that at the end of the day, choosing which photos are placed on to one's profile has a direct effect on the resulting 'clicks'.

Maybe it will also encourage the innumerable CS members who placed profiles with no photos to come out of hiding and start uploading.
