Snuggs09: When we were teenagers, or even younger, some of us may have wanted to run away from home.

Children run away for various reasons: child abuse, don't want to abide by their parents rules, or maybe just get away from it all.

As an adult, have you ever wanted to "just get away from it all" by running away.

No matter where you go, your problems go with you, but I have to admit, there were times I would be driving home from the Jersey shore and I'd think, if only I could just keep on driving.

I always came back to my senses because of my daughter and my job but the feeling still festers in the back of my mind....if only I could get away from it all.

How about you.

Would you like to tell us about the time you did run away, or if you still think that it might be the solution to what is going on in your life.

Would you like to put it all in the rear view mirror.
I think it depends on the problems. I tried running away many times as a child. When I finally turned 18, I left for college, cut ties, and never looked back. My problems didn't follow me, but they left scars that took years to heal.

Big_John: I am back home from the hospital. Overnight the doctors did a small arthroscopic surgery to repair the damage I did over sometime over the past few days when I attempted to sand bag my home to protect it from the violent storms we had. I am fine. The home could be better. The surgery went perfect and I was told it should mend itself almost in the same timeframe as my original one. So in about two more week or a little more I will be back out doing what I love.

Thanks everyone for you kind words in this thread, the emails, ecard, and flowers. I truly appreciate it.

Definition of Abuser-------the perpretrator who maltreats...

Definition of Abuse Victim------a person who has been maltreated by an abuser either mentally, verbally, violently or sexually etc...

If you have suffered abuse have you found it in the future hard to completely trust a person...

At the back of your mind is there the thought that I totally trusted and loved someone before and that trust was rewarded with
abuse....so now I am always on my guard even if it is right at the back of your mind.....

Are the warning bells switched on all the time....
For a long time, yes. But not anymore. I won't give him that power over me anymore.
