I thought this site was just, you know, for hanging out in the forums.

no, actually, there is no history book that has record of that happening. The bible isn't history. it's a story.

THe romans have no record, that anyone has found of a man named jesus of nazareth. there is no foreskin of jesus on display in a church somwhere, though there are still 5 churches around the world that claim to have it, under glass as it were.

THe bible and science just don't mix, because one is based on faith, and one is based on fact, that can be repeatedly proven with an experiment.

I'm not saying people shouldn't believe in something, we all need something to hang onto. I just don't think it should be schools, to teach it.

Not at all. There is science to social skills and global warming.

there have been many studies and experiments in both fields that repeatedly point to the same result, which is what science does.

If you don't want your kids to listen to a type of music, or play a certain sport, or where certain clothes, those are for parents to teach.

schools should teach facts that can be proven with experiments, or confirmed by history.

The concept of a god is very old, and will be with us for a long time but i don't think it should be taught in school.

having students study something science cannot even suggest as being true, would be a perversion of both teaching and science.

It doesn't belong in school.

if parents want to tell their childeren there is a santa clause, or a god, or an easter bunny they can do that.
But not the schools. they should be teaching facts.

As a species, mankind has worshiped, rocks, places, the sun, the moon, other people, etc. We did these things because we wanted an explanation of the world around us that we did not understand.

But in this day, and age, we have a much greater understanding of the world around us, and of ourselves, and our relationships between ourselves and each other as well as our relationships with the world.

So, we no longer worship the sun, or places, or other people.

Now, many have instead agreed, to worship a god.

Everyone has a different opinion as to what this god is and what it does and so on....

My point is that eventually, we will agree, i believe that we did all those bad things because we were childish.

And that is something i don't mind my kids learning in school.

no, if someone is hurting you, it is because you are unhappy enough to allow them to hurt you.

If you are in a relationship with someone that hurts you, then leave the relationship. Otherwise you are giving them permission, to hurt you.

if you are happy, inside yourself, Demanding that someone else take responsiblity for this unhappyness, and then do something about it,
would never happen.

If you are unhappy, you should not take on new relationships until you are.

Really. Otherwise is to just waste time, and condoms.

The debate in the scientific community has been over for generations but the religious community still likes to muddy the water with the 'let's hear the other side of the debate' argument. Which is disenginuous to put it nicely. It fails the scientific method every time.

Creationism, or intell design, is not science so if you want it taught, teach it in religious studies or philosophy classes.

I agree. The debate of creationism as a possiblity, has been over for several decades.

I come from a very long line of "Christian warriors."
This isn't my name for it, they actually call themselves that.
They believe that every word in the bible was spoken by a god, to a man and written down word for word.

They believe that "colored people" (again, their expression, not mine)
were created by a god "that way" so that "decent people could indentify the devil's minions."I shit you not.

As a result, i cannot stand the christian way of thinking.
It's childish and simple-minded to the Nth degree.

I have no trouble understanding that i probably have a common ancestor with primates that still swing from trees today.

I have a lot of trouble even entertianing the idea while drinking heavily
that this place was populated by some divine incest.

Sorry, but i have thought about this a lot, and i grew up with these people that insist that i'm somehow "fighting against god" when i think for myself.

Childish and simple-minded.

300 years ago doctors were still drilling holes in heads to "let the demons out."

I can only imagine, and hope, that several hundred years from now people will look back at the concept of creationism and wonder what the hell we were thinking.

she's not going to pull in many women voters, unless they are interested in reversing Roe VS. Wade as well. It's i think a really stupid move for the republican party. I huge gamble that most americans really are as stupid as republicans think we are. We havn't really done anything thoughtful and intelligent as a country, for a very long time. Mcain is betting that we never will.

Conservitives that can barely tolerate mcain may see this as a good move, and will convince some of them to actually vote, instead of "sitting this one out" as many have quietly said.

If a person can explain where their opinions come from, i consider them intelligent.
Being able and willing to accept your own limitations is intelligence.

Once while on a trip, i played with a dog, that i don't think existed.
It melted, and floated away. Good trip overall tho.
