A man was walking along a California beach and stumbled across an old lamp. He picked it up and rubbed it and out popped a genie. The genie said, "OK. You released me from the lamp, blah blah blah. This is the fourth time this month and I'm getting a little sick of these wishes so you can forget about three. You only get one wish!" The man sat and thought about it for a while and said, "I've always wanted to go to Hawaii but I'm scared to fly and I get very seasick. Could you build me a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive over there to visit?" The genie laughed and said, "That's impossible. Think of the logistics of that! How would the supports ever reach the bottom of the Pacific? Think of how much concrete...how much steel!! No, think of another wish." The man said OK and tried to think of a really good wish. Finally, he said, "I've been married and divorced four times. My wives always said that I don't care and that I'm insensitive. So, I wish that I could understand women....know how they feel inside and what they're thinking when they give me the silent treatment....know why they're crying, know what they really want when they say 'nothing'....know how to make them truly happy...." The genie asked, "Do you want that bridge two lanes or four?"

if the story was not about a genie but a fairy... than maybe she would have given him the wish about understanding women... since it was a genie (male) he was not smart enough to understand us either!!

lcheering cheering

what would you choose as a theme and why? I would choose the Grease theme as I am in love with the movie... I like the music, their style in clothes and shoes... everything!

what is your favorite book and are you do you a lot

The Sword and the Scimitar by David Bell... could not put it down when I read it and would love to read it again.

Nico and Maria, Maltese brother and sister, are separated when young Nico is abducted by Moorish slavers. Extraordinary events lead him to the court of Suleiman the Magneficient, Sultan of the Ottomans. Maria, stranded in Malta, joins a group of Jews - forced by their Christian rulers to renounce their faith - who continue their rituals clandestinely.

French aristocrat Christien de Vries yearns to prove himself as a surgeon in the Order of St. John, to which he was pledged as an infant but joined as a result of life-altering oath.

In 1565, as the battle of the seige of Malta approaches, nothing will ever be the same again for Maria, Nico and Christien. A sweeping historical epic set against the backdrop of the desparate conflict between Christian Europe and the Islamic Ottoman Empire, The Sword and The Scmitar vividly portrays an irresistable and fast-moving world of aadventure, war, treachery and love.

An excellent work. There’s no word that I can use to describe this amazing piece of work. From the beginning to the end, a tale of incredible twists and turns unfold. I was awed at the way the writer used description and settings to effect. Finished the book yesterday at 11:55 pm on the dot. In the morning I woke up thinking about it. Fiction + Fact = An amazing piece.

The language is slighty complicated at times, and certain terms are not in english. But albeit that, it still wraps you in its own shroud to take you to the lands of Malta and Topkapi. Every event described in this book will keep you glued to it. Or rather, shall I say, keep your eyes glued to the words. A must read.

5 stars.

Highly recommended read to anyone that is interested in fiction

why do we buy things we dont need .. how many times have u bought on impulse got home put the item in a cupboard and forgot about ,, have u things in cupboards u havnt used in yrs how often do u have a clear out,, and do u ever sit down and think about all the things we buy and dont need,, why oh why do we do it????

I would not know why I do that... if I knew the reason maybe it would be much easier for me to quit doing it all over again!!!

I have all kind of stuff that I don't use... gadgets, clothes, shoes, bags... anything, but I never manage to throw anything away. If I meet anything that might be useful to somebody else, than I do give away stuff, but never throw anything away. I can never part with stuff that for some weird reason or another I had gotten on impulse... I think that I must have got it for a reason which I do not remember!!

I like to set the table, obviously if I am with company, some music in the background and preferibly set out on the terrace, but when I am alone, I still set the table, no music, just tv for company. And i eat with my fingers if I am alone... best knife and fork ever lol

Perhaps I just too much of a private person but I don't know how I'd feel about someone playing a whole relationship out over CS. I don't mean the simply the mere mention of their new partner as I think that's ok.

I get that when people are 'in love' or 'infatuated' you probably want to shout from the rooftops but just don't think I'd like the whole virtual world knowing every little details about a new budding romance. In another way I suppose it does also give others some enlightment that he or she is still out there.

Am I just getting cynical?

It is one thing to tell your online friends about your date and how's it going but to describe in detail what goes on is another thing. I always personally mention my success with CS, but then I never said even his name, let alone describe the details of our dates!! This is all so stupid! You don't go out on the street intimate details of your love life!!!

Hi Smoky... yes, he's the one!! And we've been dating for almost 3 months now!! And guess what... didn't meet his mother yet as we try to spend every little time we have together! Though I met his father but coincidentally when I joined him on one of his bus trips. Let's call him Jus... okey?

C`mon, everyone, give some updates on yourselves - a bit more of an intensive self-description, what you are looking for in life ... generally, in a partner, what you have to offer, you can even off-load some dirty secrets that we dont know about you............?

Well... since I joined CS my priorities in life changed dramatically. I was looking for friends and a partner when I joined CS, but now I found my partner and am looking to evolve my friendship with all of you.
I can offer some advice and can be a person who can listen and offer a shoulder to cry on metaphorically speaking.
