When the morning comes
slowly she rises
thinking what today may bring
hoping for good surprises

She makes her way to the kitchen
she turns the coffee pot on
then looks out the window
to see a new day dawn

She begins thinking through the years
all of the experiences she's had
the good time are all gone now she thinks
now all that's left is the bad

It's not her fault
that she feels this way you see
because there was one she once loved
that hurt her so deeply

Sitting down with her coffee now
she tries to take all of this in
with a heart as fragile as her's now
wondering if she can begin again

So scared but yet so lonely
still feeling the scars
remembering the terrible pain
when her heart was torn apart

It's been so long now
since she's let someone inside
for the walls she's put up
is where her spirit hides

She really wants to trust again
she's so tired of being alone
she longs to hear the comforting words
