I tells ya folks, it just don't work. any other fruit, its fine.

today was hot enough in philly for me to install the air conditioner again, and to make my first batch of water-ice of the year. I make my own water-ice all the time in the summer. Its easy. just take your favorite fruit, skin and seed it, and put it in a cuisinart or a blender. Put in at least five or six ice cubes, and some sugar to suit your sweet tooth. Blend and enjoy.

Just dont try watermelon. I just tried it for the first time, and it tuned out like water. I guess there is too much water in watermelons for water-ice. water water everywhere, eh?
it looks just like this...wine wine wine

well, I gotta admit I dont like or respect those blood and gore movies. I mean, I'll watch them, but I dont aspire to their lowly status. Resorting to blood, guts, and gore is the easy way out for a horror writer.

the trick is to scare the bejeebies out of someone without using blood or guts. That is something most folks dont understand anymore. something that is bloody is not scary... just gross.

I like scary movies and books, not gross ones.
A few people have mentioned this already, and I just wanted to chip in with my enthusiastic agreement.
Cheers to all,

theres a very limited range of monsters and horror settings out there. all the main plots and characters have already been done, so many modern writers merely rearrange the older plots.

see what I mean, America??? not one soul in this uneducated country has ever even HEARD of Shelley or Byron. And yet, they were the epitome of romantic poetry, and they both dabbled in bizarre and horrifying epic poetry.

For example, Shelley (who married Mary Shelley - Frankenstein) wrote an epic poem called Ghasta, which is unbelievable. have you read that one, by any chance.

You have just listed two of my all time favorite poets. Who else do you like? Its a shame I am not in England, I'm sure I could find the right woman over there.
Cheers for that, doll, kiss kiss kiss

I remember Halloween and it's sequels.Scared me more then any movie ever has,or should say they scared me... I havn't seen another since those days.I do like to read Stephen king and Dean Koontz but books only,no movies, hey I am alone at night.

yeah, steven king is alright, I guess. I mean, he did alot for horror, he brought it to widespread attention like no other. He just doesnt have the beauty of it down as much as some of the older writers. What, by the way, was your favorite King book?
I liked the Stand so much, I have read it at least six times.

the ring was the only horror movie made after 1950 or so which really got to me. I dont want to give it away, in case you see it, but theres this little movie inside the movie, which really freaked me out when I saw it. also I was alone in a dark cabin in the woods when I saw it. what a way to get off?
Mostly, though, I read horror. I write short horror stories and some poems, for publication someday, and so I read as much classic horror as I can.

thats okay, too. they can certainly unsettle you. but I guess I am used to horror. I live in horror, in the city of Philadelphia, where the genre was born.
Poe wrote his first horror story on fairmount avenue, downtown Philly proper.

So, the ring was excellent. truly horrible. and I dont get easily impressed. something about that jittery little video really messed me up.

just my luck, two pretty girls like horror, and they both live on the other side of the continent. good luck to both of you gals.
cheers, and thanks for replying to my little post.yay yay yay

Just wondering if any of you like horror movies or books. I myself love the genre, and would love to discuss favorite authors and or movies.

Just to get things started (hopefully) I'll say this:

WITHOUT EDGAR ALLEN POE, THERE WOULD BE NO HORROR.

My favorite horror movie, on the other hand, would be more modern...
The Ring.

anyone else out there interested in horror?dropping jaw dropping jaw dropping jaw

I guess I'm pretty strange on this one. I think it is good for the man to be at least ten years older than the woman. That way, you see, they are roughly equal in intelligence.cheering cheering cheering

BY the way, have you ever seen one? I truly love to see a nacreous cloud before I die. Alas, they have too much sense to come to Philly.

he he, do the moles come when you call them? I can just imagine, what was it, 10,000 moles stampeding home from the fields.

I have only one dog, but he is enough. An Alaskan Malemute, small for his breed, at only 100 pounds, and all muscle. Very hard to control.

we live in a one-room apartment together, and so I have to walk him about 2 hours a day.
