Late September LIBRA!

Aha - and how do you feel, Conrad - do you feel anything like a set of scales??...

I've known several good people born at the end of September, among them my father (Sep. 29).

here's to you

I know a Libran who weighes out life's pros and cons like a chef baking a cake. Must be why I guess.

Just out of interest, what sign does a Taurean with an descending Piscean - or whatever you say - go well with partnership wise?

Hm... don't really know about that... Maybe Mr Ekspain can help us out here?

Scandinavia[1] is a historical and geographical region centred on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe, which includes, depending on various interpretations, the nations of Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Denmark along with their associated territories: The Faroe Islands, The Åland Islands and Greenland. Occasionally, sources limit the word "Scandinavia" to describe either only the three kingdoms of Sweden, Norway, and Denmark; or Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland; or Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Iceland. Regardless how the word "Scandinavia" is defined, the term Nordic countries is used to denote all of the above-mentioned nations and territories as one collective group . [2][3] [4][5][6][7]

In linguistics and cultural studies , the definition of Scandinavia is expanded to include the areas where Old Norse was spoken and where the North Germanic languages are now dominant. As a linguistic and cultural concept, Scandinavia thus also includes Iceland the Faroe Islands[8] and Swedish speaking parts of Finland.

As a cultural and historical concept, Scandinavia can include Finland as well (of the larger region Fenno-Scandinavia), often with reference to the nation's long history as a part of Sweden. Although Finland is culturally closely related to the other Scandinavian countries, Finns form a distinct linguistic and ethnic group which speaks a Finno-Ugric language of a different language family from Scandinavian languages, which are part of the Indo-European language family.[9]

Says Wikipedia. It should know.

I'm sorry, but I beg to differ - Wikipedia is not always correct. I dare say the terminology used by a law-drafting entity is the one to go by, when push comes to shove.

However, this is of little importance in the grand scheme of things!

cheers

Aquavit:Particular to the Norwegian tradition is the occurrence of Linie akvavits (such as "Løiten Linie" and "Lysholm Linie"). These have been carried in oak casks onboard ships crossing the equator ("Linie") twice before it is sold. While many experts claim that this tradition is little more than a gimmick, some argue that the moving seas and frequent temperature changes cause the spirit to extract more flavour from the casks. Norwegian akvavit distillers Arcus has carried out a scientific test where they tried to emulate the rocking of the casks aboard the "Linie" ships while the casks were subjected to the weather elements as they would aboard the same ship. The finished product was according to Arcus far from the taste that a proper "Linie" akvavit should have, thus the tradition of shipping the akvavit casks past the "Linie" and back continues.

I see - very interesting! Never heard of that. No wonder, though - you're talking about the Norwegian stuff! laugh I thought you meant the Swedish brand Aquavit... which I have never heard of as sailing around the world...

Scandinavia

Region of northern Europe, usually defined as comprising Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. It is sometimes used more broadly to include Finland and Iceland. Norway and Sweden occupy the Scandinavian Peninsula, though Denmark is part of the North European Plain. The Scandinavian peoples are linked by cultural similarities, and they speak a closely related group of Germanic languages Says Britanicca concise encyclopedia ( among many other sources) What's the big deal that these others are included, as well?

No big deal at all - I embrace all in our Nordic family! hug

It's just that it's my job to use terminology correctly, and the bottom line is that there is a definitive definition of 'Scandinavia'.

Just for the record: Scandinavia comprises Sweden, Norway and Denmark, and nothing else. Finland is, however, part of the Nordic countries (together with Scandinavia and Iceland).

Trust me - I should know.

I can imagine the difference if Taurus is a bull and pisces is a fish. I prefer swimming to eating grass if that helps. Was she saying I'm slippery or something? I have no idea how the two are supposed to act. What's the difference?

Yes, interesting perspective... trouble is, how do you gauge this with signs like Libra - does anyone 'feel' like a set of scales??... confused laugh

Yes, Taureans are supposed to be more down-to-earth, stable people, who often like the finer things in life, and who look for stability. They can also be quite passionate.

Pisceans are in a sense a mix of all the other signs - they are quite sensivite to others, and are more 'floaty' and creative, often. They care very much about people around them, so much that they can even begin to feel the pain of other's.

in truth, I don´t think you can put too much weight in the sun sign...yes its important, however I think the venus aspect, and the ascendant are more important. For example, yes in many ways I´m capricorn, but I feel like my personality is much more in line with the fact that my Venus is in Pisces. By the way, I don´t know many fun loving aries... but hey...I´m sure they exist (somewhere)

Yes, they do - I know a couple.

I see - so what/how does the Venus sign influence a person?
