the thing is Nina,

children to come first, but mummies too

sorry, that's definitely not making sense now

Yeah, I know what you mean, DF - and it makes perfect sense; if you don't take care of yourself, who will look after your children? But I think the basic instinct is to make sure your kids are safe first, in an emergency.

excellent news, really, really excellent. I learnt a long time ago (the hard way) that if I do not look after number one because I,m busy, busy, busy looking after number 2,3,4 then there will not be a number one to look after 2,3 and 4 for very long.

First save yourself. When flying, safety notices tell you that in the event of a fall in cabin pressure an oxygen mask will drop on your lap and then goes on to tell you that you should first put your mask on, your child,s after. Common sense, huh?

Ok, now work, build up your self esteem and feel good about yourself. Then you,ll start to feel good about others. Hey presto. Well done.

This message has come to you from some arsewhole who made all the same mistakes and eventually came up with the same solution. Guess what ? It works.

No, actually - not to me, anyway... It took me a while to figure that one out. I think the common sense for any mother (/parent) in that situation is to take care of your child first.

There are some really WONDERFUL a ladies here on CS....... I've got out with several really fantastic women; each of whom I'd have been happy to spend the rest of my life with.

The relationships didn't quite work out. It wasn't their fault; it wasn't totally my fault either - just 'not meant to be' - and the wonderful news is that at least two have since met 'Mr Right' - this makes me very happy for them......... ok, so I was initially heartbroken but I didn't get to be a rusty old knight without being able to drag my sorry ass off the floor and 'remount' - whatever that means!

I've since met a wonderful person from here, but we are both taking it very very slowly as I've had my fingers burnt to the bones a couple of times - I am scared stiff to lose her as a friend so I'm not going to do anything stupid to ruin something so good.

A friend for life is worth 1,000 short-term relationships........... some people get both a best friend and a lover for life in the same package - that's what I want!

I think that's what we all want. conversing cheers

joy

do you have a pet (dog cat bird etc) do they give you pleasure and do you talk to them , do pets stop you getting lonely?

I have a little dog, and she's really great because you never have to feel really lonely (only after a certain amount of time, when you begin to wish your conversations were more two-sided...). The fascinating thing with pets - at least dogs, and also cats - that non-pet owners sometimes don't realize, is that you actually do communicate with each other. I understand what my dog wants most of the time, and she understands what I want. Although she is of a breed both smart and somewhat stubborn - so she doesn't always agree with what I want. To start with. laugh

Dogs are great for many things; companionship, exercise, playing games (like "run-for-your-life-out-into-the-garden-to-catch-that-plasctic-rat-that-was-just-trown-so-temptingly), keeping the floor clean, guarding the house (or at least pretend to sound like a big, bad barking dog - even though you know you really sound a little more silly than that) against predators like the mailman and other visitors, feetwarmers, food-tasters, etc, etc.

I used to have a little dog. since no one knew what breed it was we said she was an audi dog.

yes.. she gave us pleasure and very good times,

she didn't stop us getting lonely or angry or sad but she was great comfort, you could say anything to her and she would listen.

she was also very good as a hoover, she gobbled up all the crumbs

Was it the world cup in Rugby? I can't remember but there was a bit of 'needle' between England and Australia over some sporting event in November 2003............ times goes so fast!

Anyway, the 'Wallabies' had had a go at us lot with some 'dirty pre match tactics' - so there were some anti Aussie jokes in the UK press, such as:

What's the difference between a pig and an Australian?

A pig doesn't turn into an Aussie when it's drinking! Why do Australina men prefer blondes?

Because they like the intellectual company.

What's the definition of a virgin?
Any Aussie girl who can run faster than her brothers......

Ouch! nasty!

Well said Nina .. and very true! Dont go getting excited about someone being rude ... one should ask for clarrification if confused? Even some face to face encounters are misconstrued - but when questioned the person explains and the misunderstanding cleared up.

Thanks, Smoky. Yes, it all really boils down to communication, doesn't it?!
