Yes, and he uses it often. Look at the churches history. Every time the church decides to go beyond the bible and the teachings of Jesus, it opens itself up to deception. People bash the bible, and wonder why people like me base our faith upon it's teaching, but if you look at the people who start to believe they know more than the bible or have the only correct interpretation, then you enter into a dangerous place. Just as Jim Jones and David Koresh did.

The Old Testament introduces us to God, tells the story of how He had to deal with man in his infancy, shows us the utter futility of trying to reach God on our own, and bears witness to the New Testament, which tells of the fulfillment of the Old Testament, introduces us to the object of our salvation from our fallen state and gives us the ultimate and clear model upon whom we should base our lives, Jesus.

And the devil has got a convert in you?

It used to all the time. I have not thought of it in awhile, but there is a book that blew me away on that subject. "The Screwtape Letters" is a fiction book by C.S. Lewis. It is a biblically based look at how the devil COULD do his worst. The main thing you keep thinking while reading the book is "The devil can't do that, its not fair.", but we know that the devil is bound by no rules of code of conduct. He has every trick at his disposal. And yes, religion is one of his best tools in influencing people.

If you have never read it, I warn you, its not an easy read, but worth your while.

best disguise the devil could ever have is the church!

No female druids in any part of the Celtic world and no written tradition either so it was impossible for you to read anything written by them, they had an oral tradition.

There were no Druidesses either! It was a male dominated religion.

No, they did not. Many of the rituals were conducted in the Sacred Groves, but many were also in public for the tribe. They did not keep the people in Spiritual chains...I really don't know where you got that one, but it has no basis in truth. They also did not take the tribe's wealth. They were supported by the tribe, paid, because of the nature of their work, but it was for the good of the tribe, and its unity, that they worked. The people considered them a necessary conduit to the Spirit world because of their gifts...they did not decide that. And they lived no better than the people, they lived with the people, though in their own dwelling. Many had husbands or wives who were craftsmen in the tribe, and thereby contributed their part to the clan as well.

Sorry, E, but you're way off base. Druids were nothing like the priests of the early Church.

And You were there?

and ok since patrick brought it up

druids were like the high priests of catholocism

super secretive,
kept the people in spiritual chains, subjected to the priests, took their wealth- said they were necessary to be a conduit to 'god'

just a few priests who exploited-

not some kind of warm fuzzy merlins or shamans
they kept themselves separate and lived well while
the people starvedso THERE!

You got it in one Mindful thumbs up

No, that religion did not end. It just went "underground" in the face of Christianity's invasion. It still exists, and there's no need for anything to end except ignorance and intolerance...something that you just showed very strongly.

I am not telling you lightly that I am a hundred yards away from where it officially ended. It did not go underground as modern day "druids" would have you believe. I have had to listen to these modern day Druids talking through their ass. Thats pop religion used to sell books! Their time was over and they knew it was and retired gracefully.
