Nah not really.. well.. unless they were a Total Shagger .. then yeah.. maybe. I might feel like I was only going to be a notch on the bedpost then.

You're right however IMO the problem it's quite unlikely the other will admit "I'm collecting stamps and you're the next one"... So it finally ends in both parties knowing what are they doing and what for.

I don't get it? I am not with my kids mom, but I stick around to see my kids grow up. I am not judging you by any means. Have you moved away from your kid because of another woman? Did your ex move away with your kid? Are you and the kids mom from the same country? I don't understand your story? What trust do you speak of?
Would you consider living in the same city as your daughter even though there is no chance of getting back with your ex?
One loves

ex moved with my kid. there's some chance my daugther will be living with me. This will require either me or her to change countries. I hope this answers you questions. We are a litte off the topic here so if more info needed lets go priv.

I was just wondering if I can get some input on whether men and woman can go out together and just be friends?

I always thought it is completely impossible. If I have a friend it means I like what he says or does or believes, etc. Generaly I have some positive feellings about him and most probably vice versa. So if he would happen to be a woman, there's no way genetic gravity won't work professor ...

Ofcourse we can settle rules and manage our behaviors, but the tension is there...

So you moved to Frisco for love and away from your daughter? I am guessing there is a lot to this story and it is none of my business ...
I don't know your situation and sorry to bring it up. You seem kinda shook up. I would just suggest from experience, to be close to your daughter.

I believe everyone here has a story. I know my profile is somewhat misleading. Sorry for that, I'll fix it. I'm not in frisco now but I'd be over the next few weeks.

This however doesn't change the fact that me and my daughter live in two different countries. If this would have bocome an option I'd move to live with her straight away. No doubts. This however is simple, because there's no question of trust, etc.

Maybe if I really felt in love with a women and I believed this is a big love that is going to last forever, I'd be ready to move after her. (despite all rationale, past experiences, breakups and divorce statistic). ....

hmmm confused I always thought I'm rather pragmatic than romantic...

Isn't it hard being away from your daughter? So far?

It is.

You see her growing. Forming first concious, not necesairlrly right, but her own decisions.... And you ask yourself a question... Can I do anything to help her do better than I did....

Well, i'm still very young and haven't been married or traveled far for love, so, i'm not too sure of how i would go about it, as yet.

Yes you are. So your chances are bigger. Because when yo belive in something, it's becoming more realistic. And when you're younger your beliefs are probably stronger...

For a moment I thought it was really a romantic post.

Should we be like a teenage, naive optimists or should we be well educated, well paid, established reasonable egoists?

Does anybody invest their extra money (if you have any)? If so, where do you invest it? CD's, money mkt acct, stocks & bonds, Metals, mutual funds, ETF's, sock drawer, under the mattress etc?

Investment funds and hobbies (recently racing cars)

The second is an obvious loss D'oh! but the first, long term brings some profit. In a future I plan to enter property market but this is requires a lot of time and access to good information sources.
