Sonja Smits, Victor Garber, Jeff Healey, Daniel Lanois and others.
I work in theatre so I get to meet lots of people.
Jeff Healey, don't get him drinking.
Sonja Smits, we had a drink at the pub next door, I asked, "why not go out with the other cool actors", she says, "oh honey, they are either full of sh!t or full of themselves or both".
Victor Garber, what an incredibly decent man. We have a gala once a year to raise money for the theatre which, as most do, operate as not for profit. We supply plane fare, accomodations and 10 seats for family. The first thing he did upon arrival was to write a cheque for the full value of all of those things. Two weeks later a letter arrived "those doors at the front of the building are old, they seem to leak air and must cost a fortune in heating bills, get them fixed." There was a cheque for $25,000 included.
Daniel Lanois, he did this amazing set and there was a sound in one of the tunes that I'd never heard before. I was nervous as hell but I had to know how it was done so I got up the courage and asked him after the set. He took me up on stage, showed me the equipment, how it was hooked up, some other technical stuff and then said "give it a try". You wouldn't expect the man that produced The Joshua Tree to be so humble, but I don't think I've ever met someone so much so.
