I am all for women having equal rights... but if equal right is what they really want, then make it a total package.

Not just be able to pick and choose what parts you want to be equal in.

I'm talking about the legacy of the past not victorian times literally. Surely human beings are unkind and unfair to each other in many ways and there are prejudices....however, there is certainly a very prevalent attitude which has been and still is pretty pervasive in our society that women past a certain age are undesirable and often invisible....therefore, while comments about men can be taken one way, similar comments about women are taken another...to imagine that all social prejudices about women have evaporated in the past 70 years because of changing laws and some changing attitudes would be the same as to believe that deeply embedded attitudes towards racism have disappeared...neither have. I have nephews who are mixed race and I am a woman...I know from personal experience that deeply embedded attitudes toward black americans and towards women still exist...and these attitudes are base, cruel, ugly and hurtful. I realize you don't want to believe me, so at this point we will just have to agree to disagree, if you are willing to do so.
