Prettywoman from what I read of posts I would suggest that you consult your doctor before starting any exercise routine considering the medical issues that you are faced with.

I would also suggest consulting a dietician so that you have a eating program that is suitable for your health and goals as well as consult a fitness trainer and have a program developed.

Focusing on improving your health is a wonderful goal ... but its changing your life style. You sound like you need a support network to help you educate yourself but more importantly to also provide the support and encouragement that you need and a laid out plan to achieve your goals.

Once you have decided what activities that you would like to try ..... I would start trying to find a partner to encourage and motivitate each other.

Having someone to chat with, laugh with, and most importantly be accountable to is vital to continuing and not losing your motivation.

I wish you good luck !!!
A support network would be great. CS is the closest thing that I have to a support team right now. I did have a few friends that were helping me and I them, but they got caught up in things in their life and we are no longer in touch.

Hi Deborah

I still think the thyroid can't make fatty tissue out of nothing. The maths don't add up.

I am not belittling prettywoman or anyone who struggles with their weight. But don't you think it's defeatist to always find a reason, if you like an excuse?

You can do it, even with thyroid problems.
if you can do it with thyroid disease, then go ahead and do it. otherwise, don't say you can.

do you have asthma? do you have thyroid disease? do you have graves disease? do you have social anxiety? do you have arthritis? are you at risk for a heart attack, stroke, diabietes, etc. shall i go on???

my daughter has asthma. they recommend exercise for her...but she has to use her inhaler before she does...to prevent an attack.

works quite well.
i'll keep that in mind.

if the ekg or ecg was normal that means that you have a good heart and your veins are in good shape.

my docter said the same thing, sort of, as long as it slows down and doesn't stay high, then it was okay.

In response to:
well what would happen if your pulse went to high?

my resting pulse is high to between 100 and 110 but thats because of the salbutamol/ventolin it increases the heart rate
i could have a heart attack or stroke if my heart rate rises to high or especially stays there for a long time.

you are right about the inhaler making the pulse raise higher. mine is 100 - before - i use my inhaler. my pulse can spike up to 150 just using the inhaler and nebulizer. it usually doesn't stay that high very long though, it usually slows back down to at lease 120.

how were they and did they effect your asthma
the yoga classes did affect my asthma. i had to keep my inhaler close by.

i must say your very judgemental..not all are over weight because of FOOD..some like my sister have health problems.she is getting the surgery because she has severe diabetes (family history) so must do something or she will be gone in a year.My sis and I have backbone..
Pretty you should consult your doctor about what excercises would be good for you.Good luck.
this is very true. there are health conditions that do cause people to be overweight. diabeties is one of them, like cute said. i have over-active thyroid disease which causes me to be overweight.

my resting heart rate is at 100 (my pulse) so my docter said to walk and not to do anything that will make my pulse raise too high (being at risk of other things) or do anything on purpose to make me start having an asthma attack.

thanks all. great information. i have actually started taking the oil of olay vitamens for women. there is a multi-vitamin, CoQ10, vitamin B12, and ginseng included. it is also supposed to be an energy formula with these four vitamins taken together.

westdock,

you have no right judging anyone. you do not walk in my shoes and i will not fulfill your critizing judgements by explaining anything to you about my breathing. you are not worth it. if you do not like the thread or if you do not wish to post, then don't post. but until you have something helpful to say, your words are null and void, but thanks just the same.

i use massage for pain relief to. for period pain a mix of carrier oil with clary sage, geranium , roman chamomoile and lavender is a nice one
that does sound really nice. i'll have to try to remember that one. i like to use products with lavender and chamomile in it for the calming effect it has. i also like to drink chamomile tea for the relaxation and calming affect.

massage thearpy is good for pain anywhere in your body that you may have. i have had to have massage thearpy done on one of my legs because the muscles kept cramping up and i got to where i couldn't walk because the cramps were so bad. i went to a chiropracter for it and he done the massage thearpy, eletric shock thearpy (no jokes please), and he popped my knee to lossen the muscles...i also got treatments for my back also so the leg muscles would stay properly in place.
