It is true. I just researched it for an article. By the way - the democrats started the public school system and it has been a huge problem long before either Clinton or Bush took office. So nobody specifically is to blame.

Anyway, it seems that our children score in the highest percentile WORLDWIDE during the elementary school years. Then we drop to among the lowest by middle school/Jr. High school. I sincerely believe it is because we have tied the school's hands when it comes to discipline. In our effort to be politically correct, etc., we can no longer kick they sorry little butts out for fear of some special interest group crying foul.

And the saddes thing about this is that not only do these kids disrupt the good kids - we are leading these bad kids to believe that this behavior will be tolerated in their adult life. So we aren't doing them any favors either.

JMHO

You would laugh your ass off if you read KERA for my state. It is a complete joke. I know exactly why our kids fail in secondary education. They are being taught by idiots. Also, who in their right mind would teach high-schoolers for 30K a year with a Master's degree. Give me a break.

The problem mostly lays with the teachers . If we had intelligent teachers, the test scores would soar to new heights.

A recent survey of graduating HS seniors from across the country revealed that 60% could not identify Canada on a map.

Yes, abolish the UN!!!

Not sure about the Supreme Court... HAven't thought that one through yet. Any comments to get the brain cells going?

I'll say that the UN is a bunch of crooks just like our government. I love nothing more than to hear the UN criticized for something and then our own government is guilty of the exact same things. It is funny as can be sometimes.

As for me, I do believe the Supreme Court should be abolished. It no longer serves the function that it was designed for. It has become just another avenue for the current in power party to get their agendas pushed through instead of actually protecting the people.

I believe the justices should be changed every few years like the politicians. There should be a pool of judges from every party and I don't mean just Rs & Ds. Then when a new panel is needed, the replacement's names are pulled out of a hat like a lottery. What you get is what you are stuck with until the next shift change..........

Call me crazy.............

Who here believes the UN should be abolished or at least the US withdraw from it?

Do you believe the Supreme Court should be abolished and let the individual states handle their own problems?

Seriously, Conrad.

Where in the hell has our country gone? What's happening to these people? Are we united or should we just go and have ourselves another Civil War?

Damn scary.

I hate to admit it, but the people will get fed up at some point and all hell will break loose. People will die, but people have always died for freedom. A revolution it not a bad thing.

Is anyone here interested in fixing our problems or is this just a forum for exchanging potshots?

I'm interested in fixing the problem. But, the system will never fix itself as long as people continue to be sheep and believe what the politicians spout as the truth.

Things will change when the people wake up and demand term limits and demand that regular Joe's can run for office and run on an even playing field.

Until then, forget about it.

Example, the latest issue on talk radio is the issue about Bush asking for off-shore drilling and is blaming the democrats for blocking it.

Someone remind me...........who was in control of congress for the first 6 years of Bush's presidency ? ! ? !

I cry when I watch the last episode of MASH.

I totally lost it at my grandmother's funeral when my grandfather broke down crying himdelf. He was about 92 at the time and there was not a single person in the family that had seen him cry before. There was not a dry eye in the funeral home.

My maternal grandparents were married 72 years.

From what I have read so far, I don't understand why the family has not chosen to move him to Jewish hospital where they would be more in tune with the family wishes.

I have to agree with the doctors in this case based upon the info presented.

This is a very good example where someone should have their wishes recorded legally in case they become incapacitated.

Going to see it this week some time. A friend of mine and myself got some free passes and thought we had better put them to good use. Glad to hear you liked the movie and I'm looking forward to it. It sure as hell can't be worse than the Ang Lee version produced a short while back.

Another super hero movie you should check out is Iron Man. The CGI was pretty much flawless. It is the best super hero movie made thusfar in my opinion.

Marvel is going to be producing a lot of super hero movies through the years due to their endless line of characters and for the fact that they can produce their own movies now.

Why did you quit?

No real wierd jobs......worst job has to be cutting and hanging tobacco in the heat and getting nicotine poisoning.

Most interesting and fun job I had was as a cave interpreter for two summers at Carter Caves State Park.

As a very pickey person, I think this is very helpful info.
I need to copy the checklist.
Then I need a "Date". Haven't had one in 7 years as I am the type first mentioned: "the passive commitment-phobe, who sabotages the relationship before it even begins by dating inappropriate people".
They have almost ALL been inappropriate in the past, well, ALL have been. So, now, I examine them under the microscope to determine IF I will even go on a date or communicate with them.
No one ever passes my "test".
Why can't I just go out to have a good time?
Or enjoy a "free meal"?
To me, it's "DOOMED" before I ever get a phone call.
Even the girl "pickey" goes farther than me on this!

Good topic for discussion. Thanks for bumping it!

How's things in Lexington? I was there a couple of weeks ago ya know! She's here now and SAFE!!!

Hi HL,

So, is your personal test all essay?.....laugh , kinda sounds like my econ professor in college. Tough as nails and his tests were tough too! Took me a couple of attempts to get through his class.

Anyway, glad to hear you got your friend out of her situ and back on the road to life. Hopefully things will get better for her now!

Hey double F, what's been going on?

I saw this morning where this thread had been resurrected from the dead. I didn't have time to respond because I was on my way out to go have lunch with the Daddy-O for Father's Day.

Still trying to locate an old diesel truck to convert!
