do you know it completely amazes me.. that seemingly 45% of the arguing on CS is on the religious threads.. (another 45% on the political threads... and the remaining 10% scattered about on any ole thread)

I just find it funny.. (and a little sad).. that people that follow a religion and want all this peace and kindess to man blah blah blah..

are fighting and arguing..

Then there's someone like me.. a humble ole Atheist.. (plenty of us!) doing my best not to argue, to deflect confrontation.. and avoid hurting anyone's feelings. Somethings wrong there somewhere..

Thank 'god' am not religious!

I agree.

I am quite religious and my views have been evolving towards a broader prospective meeting people here esp. those who are atheist.

I think religion is " personal " .. its can be shared , discussed , understood and practised but not forced !! The entire basis as i have understood of all religions is " betterment of mankind " or something on similar lines ... but that doesnt mean thats THE only way or THE only thing to do.

Its to love and be compassionate ... but we seem to forget the essence of it all and instead go verbatum which is totally misplaced hence.

Right now for the state that mankind is in ..

we need more Humanity , Humility and Kindness for oneself and
others.

we need more faith in the fellow man ..

and a conscience to distinguish the right from the wrong as in
atleast not hurt or cheat another for ones own needs or selfish
means.

I think .. this can be accomplished by following ANY religion or even NO religion at all.

Being human is a conscious effort we need to make on ourselves everyday.

I have heard a similar version too .. . but until there is associated proof its just maybe this or that.

Apparently the story that in his earlier days in life he spent time in Tibet or the Himalayas is also true ... where he became aware of the buddhist principles.

I would watch the movie.

Nothing is ever easy, riya. I've regained a friend I'd lost for quite awhile. That is a good thing, because I really care about her, and she really cares about me. Whether this develops into anything else other than really good friends is up to the buddha.

I'm not making any assumptions beyond that...

Thanks though.
