It's been a year since I've moved to Saskabush. I tend to get busy with work and home and not spend enough time on creating my own social life.

Recently, I've started to become more involved with the activities that really make me tick. Joined a small but interesting writers' group & was immediately asked to join a critiquing group (review each others' work) & a larger writers' group. Most of the folks I've met so far are older women and senior men but I'm hopeful that I might meet someone this way with common interests so I won't have to go through the dreaded 1st date scenario at all. Get to know "him" a bit better first, then go on a real date.

Possibly a son or nephew of one of the above? dunno laugh

1st dates I've done before:

* family function - X (odd & uncomfortable to say the least)
* coffee - okay
* hike - great
* movie - good
* dinner - nice
* church (yup!) - worked okay until he asked me to get my first mariage annulled (what the...) I have 2 children! laugh
*swimming - sounded good in theory until it was just me swimming and him lying around on a lounger watching me the whole time - "too tired", he said. I like activity & met a number of other guys at the pool that day! laugh

cheers hug

Cordless is the way to go with all your tools, screwdriver, etc. and gas-powered lawn mower - no electrical cords allowed.

Turned this all into a great outdoor party room once the work was all done with tunes, cooler, lawn chairs, etc. Clean enough to eat off the floor. Not quite! laugh

Who needs a garden gazeebo when you've got your own garage! lol!

In response to:
I'm glad that for the most part she acts her age and understands the whys and wherefores of....no u can't wear that until ur 45 lol.
It's since she's been in school that the attitude pops through now and then lol.Makes me laugh to see the little girls try to be -big girls- and scares me at the same time.I think I liked it better when dresses and boys were 'yucky' lol.They grow up too fast today or am I just getting older?
For a while there everything for girls (little girls) was dark and gothic. Mirroring older teens. The fashion mavens were on vacation for a few years. lol! Nothing like their ages at all. I'm beginning to see a bit of colour again which is nice...without being out of style....

I miss my dad. He and I had really great conversations together about every subject you could think of. I have not found that in any other friend since he passed away. It's been 5 years and I wish I could speak to him again. crying

Andrew Gold - Thank You For Being A Friend

Thank you for being a friend
Traveled down the road and back again
your heart is true you're a pal and a confidant

I'm not ashamed to say
I hope it always will stay this way
My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow

And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see, the biggest gift would be for me
and the card attached would say,
Thank you for being a friend

Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend

If it's a car you lack
I'd surely buy you a cadillac
Whatever you need, anytime of the day or night

I'm not ashamed to say
I hope it always will stay this way
My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow

And when we both get older
With walking canes and hair of gray
Have no fear, even though it's hardly here
I will stand real close and say,
Thank you for being a friend

(I want to thank you)
Thank you for being a friend
(I want to thank you)
Thank you for being a friend
(I want to thank you)
Thank you for being a friend
(I want to thank you)
Let me tell you bout a friend
(I want to thank you)
Thank you for being a friend
(I want to thank you)
Thank you for being a friend
(I want to thank you)
Thank you for being a friend

And when we die, and float away
I'll see you there, and once again
Thank you for being a

Thank you for being a friend
(I want to thank you)
Thank you for being a friend
(I want to thank you)
Thank you for being a friend
(I want to thank you)
Thank you for being a friend
Whoa, tell you about a friend
(Thank you right now, for being a friend)
Thank you for being a friend
(I wanna tell you right now, and tell you again)
Thank you for being a friend
(I wanna thank you, thank you, for being a friend)
Thank you for being a friend

hug
