I think there are genuinely good people looking for love both in North America & in other countries.

When English is not your first language, it is a little bit more difficult to express yourself. I tend to get a "feel" for a person through their forum posts as well as through their CS emails. Over time I can tell if things will "get weird" or not.

I don't judge everyone by one strange encounter. It just makes me a little more wary.

My best friend & I used to double-date when we were young - we used to roll our earring in our ear (pierced). That was the sign to hit the bathroom because one of us was feeling uncomfortable. It saved us a few times I think!

Now, aged to perfection laugh I'm honest right up front.

Had a funny one the other day from another country after I told him it was definitely not a match. He launched into a similar schpiel to yours Curly, explaining that his arranged marriage ended in divorce yada, yada...and he was after a North American girl. He couldn't accept "NO!"(lol!) The block button is definitely a beautiful thing.

Another was from somewhere between Asia & Australia. Started off sounding innocent enough. Terms like "princess", etc. come to mind, pretty soon he was in a round-about way asking for personal information such as full name, address, ph#...etc. When I refused, he responded with "ARE YOU KEEPING SECRETS FROM ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" My answer...BLOCK (lol!)

Gals & guys too in this day & age, watch out for internet predators. The warning flag went up & the bell was ringing...LOUDLY! With identity theft at an all time high....professor

My dream house is drawn from John Cougar Mellencamp's "Little Pink Houses" and is more a state of mind or peace within that you can take with you to any house you choose to live in. It's how I've been able to make a home anywhere I've lived.

The last person I was with was constantly trying to drag me away from my kids (he wasn't a real dad to his either - only on speaking terms with 1 out of 5).

I wore myself out trying to include both his & my kids. He just was not worth the energy drain. Odd behavior for a single parent eh?

In pushing me to always choose between he & my children, he forced me to choose them.

In a round-a-bout way this answers your question...I was never told this but shown this in the actions listed above.

He was always pushing himself into strange unhealthy co-dependent living conditions even when he was with me. This is the sign of a lost child always trying to find a home I think.

I wanted to be a vet or an archeaologist. (I see dead people! lol!)

I am in neither profession.

I am torn between what I must do to survive to pay the bills & keep the proverbial wolves at bay! (this is finally figured out now) & the creative side of me that makes me tick (culture: writing, art & theatre).

It seems to be a never-ending struggle to keep this balanced. At least I'm never bored!

laugh

The down side is there is little leisure time.

blues
