I believe, that in a secular state, we should all pay 10% tax on all our income.
By secular state I mean a government that isn't a religious organisation where state and religion are synonymous.
10% is a bloody lot! There are 365.25 days in an average year. 10% is 36.25 days worth of your hard-earned labour - it means you work FOR OVER A MONTH EACH YEAR FOR THE GOVERNMENT/YOUR COUNTRY!
Stuff all purchase taxes etc - we should ALL pay 10% just on our income - and make life simple!
You earn $100 a week - you pay $10 tax.
You earn $100,000 a week - you pay $10,000 tax.... the rich DO pay more!
If you are unemployed or poor your government can help you only if they can afford it - otherwise you'll have to rely on charity. Life can be tough, but then that's where charity comes in and if you need charity you have to swallow your pride - getting paid from the government is taking the taxes of your fellow citizens anyway, so you are fooling nobody!
The 10% on ALL EARNINGS should be compulsory... no f'ing tax breaks for ANYBODY - however, giving to charity (including churches, mosques etc should be voluntary).
Lefe should be simple - why do we have to make it so complicated?
I'm happy to 'give' one month's of my income to the government - I think that is enough..... what do YOU think?
Most religions advocate/advocated a 'tithing' of a tenth - that was historically in the days when most governments were also the religious leaders - we can't give 30%+ tax to the bloody government AND 10%+ to our churches or 'whatever', can we?
For many people who work 40 hours per week - it's only the last few minutes of the week that they earn anything for themselves as pocket money - after paying all their freaking taxes and bills........
I SAY 10% TAX IS A REASONABLE SUM - NO MORE AND NO LESS!
