Sounds true. But actually don't know since I didn't climb every mountain!

I've climbed a few.... but a favourite mountain you've climbed is better than all unclimbed mountains put together - plus climbing mountains can be very dangerous - you can fall off and die!

Only if either is an incomplete person, in my opinion.

Either of the above is indicative of some sort of masochism or sadism or at least lack of self respect...... the best relationships are those in which both partners respect each other while having the ability to agree that each has his/her strong points.

Both are meaningful!

For one the meaning is in itself.

For the other the meaning is in something else that we always look for.

Some people climb mountains 'Just because it's there'

However,

'Climb every mountain!' isn't so satisfying as the song suggests! grin

I was just noticing how much of a family man OBama seems to be. His love fore his children seems warm and the smiles between him and his wife, seem genuine. How do you feel? Do you think that he just might be a nice guy, politics aside??

Well, I had to go look up what you guys mean by 'nice'!

nice [ niss ] (comparative nic·er, superlative nic·est)

adjective

Definition:

1. pleasant: pleasant or enjoyable

2. kind: kind, or showing courtesy, friendliness, or consideration
It was a nice gesture to return the money.

3. respectable: respectable, or of an acceptable social or moral standard
She's made some nice friends at work.

4. good-looking: pleasing to look at
What a nice hat you're wearing!

5. accomplished: skillful and accomplished
That was a nice try.

6. subtle: subtle and involving delicacy or fine discrimination
You may be correct technically, but that's a nice distinction you're making.

7. fastidious and fussy: very concerned and careful about choosing, or being seen to do, the right thing
You can't be too nice about your methods if you want to get the job done

Obama seems a nice guy on all these definitions, BUT the example of 'nice' in 7. is what interests me! Ok? thumbs up grin

Sorry, he's President elect - how can it not be political?

I don't think a President can afford to be nice - decent, of course but 'nice' often implies weakness.

He has to be decent, determined and focused........... and, yes, I believe he is all these things - PLUS I am sure he is a very 'nice' husband and Daddy.

He's intelligent - plus he has warned his electorate that it's impossible for him to do all he set out to do........ I hope his entire term of office reflects those basic qualities and that he'll still be perceived as a decent, determined and focused man in four years time.

I voted NO, because in almost all cases, one drink, one bad day, one broken relationship can cause you to falter .

I have known a lot of alcoholics..........
Myself.. drank for 4 years from the time I got up till the time I fell over.
couldn't go an hour without it, much less a day.

Gave it up completely for 10 years.. not a drop.
but I will not hang out with others that drink, wont even go into a bar to shoot pool.
I just hate the personalities of the drunks.

now I can have one drink and leave it.
Usually on my birthday.. my family is amazed.

but that is a very rare bird!

But I still say in most cases NO..

Good for you! Well done! thumbs up

It's all very sad. Many people's livelihood depends on the automotive industry, but if it's dying then government intervention will only delay matters like the delay in the credit crunch and delay in the recession. It's back to supply and demand - you build too many cars of the wrong type compared to what people want. Now that oil has gone down in price will Americans demand more gas-guzzling SUV's again or are you going to wake up and be sensible?

It's about time that a new President elect became really brave and instead of keeping 'dead' jobs alive decided to look to the future. Why shouldn't the USA lead, or at least be amongst the leaders, in the mass production of 100% electric cars?

Instead of throwing billions away at the past, invest in the future - not just for you, but your kids and their kids............ we lost our automotive capability in the UK and it was very painful. You don't need to lose your's, but you also do not need to keep an ailing automotive company artificially alive - be brave and let both Ford and GM either sink or swim.......... once they get used to government handouts they'll have a stranglehold on your taxes for decades until you eventually tell them to 'f off and die!'

I feel VERY sorry for the millions employed directly and indirectly who will eventually lose their jobs; that's capitalism and they'll need to retrain - unless you guys want to build cars just so that they can be scrapped and never sold - let GM and Ford survive on their own capability or let them both die.

Thank, Jim......... the humour often hides the fact a person can feel lonely and isolated, but humour is also a good medicine if taken in the right quantities and not 'over the top'! thumbs up

I am also not single, and this is basically a singles site.

I think some guys resent a guy like me being here.

I think some women also, because they can't get their claws into me!

blushing

I spend three weeks at a time away from the woman I love, while looking after my mother 21 hours per day...... I get regular breaks (after three weeks she flys out here for a long weekend, and then I fly to her for a long week three weeks later) but when a 'prisoner' in this place I get very lonely, and CS has been a medium for me to communicate with the outside world.

I'm a very lucky man to be able to get away every couple of months............ (3 weeks + 0.5 weeks + 3 weeks + 1.5 weeks = an 8 week cycle!) there is no way I could cope with what I do on a full-time, no break basis!

Ok.. back to the topic please

sorry

People hide the truth for all sorts of reasons

Some people do not like themselves

Some people believe that nobody could possibly love them

Some people creat a mental image of what they'd like to be

Some people think that ideal image is a 40 year-old woman with zero kids

Some people put that on their profiles

Some people lie, but how do YOU know if they are lying unless you've already found them out?

I do know attractive women of a certain age who have no kids - some because they didn't want any, and some because they couldn't..... not all women lie either!

Because it is important to you and there are people who care.
Not everyone, but some.

And some people enjoy publicly humiliating a man or a woman who speaks from the heart in a public forum too...... that's human nature, and I even got vilified by a fellow Brit because I dared have a little moan about looking after my paralysed mother - like I said 'personal should be personal' and 'public should be general'

I'm basically an 'ok' guy, but when somebody has a real go at me in a public forum I react and then I get banned............ so best to keep things light and superficial and meaningless - right?
