have we discussed this?
i lived on staten island after i grew up-(19-22)
and left the upper west side
thats too weird

dun duuun DUN!

i was thinking more hurricane or monsoon weather but ok

yeah those islands are odd-lets get a controversy goin i spose

the people do seem to cling to the insistence/illusion that they are in suburban mid america-i never liked it

gimme city or completely rural
but im not a lukewarm girl

yes the sofa-well especially mine-i just have a loveseat and i havent shrunken enuf yet for it to be sleepable
im so sorry-w/ your situation seems you might be better off stretched out on th floor-
if you can even get down and up

how in hell did we end up so screwed up?

We briefly discussed this, but I only knew about the upper West side, I didn't know you lived on the Island. We'll have to talk more about it at some point...We may know some of the same people uh oh! laugh

They are illusory for the most part, though I do remember a time when SI was still mostly woods. It's now become a mini Brooklyn...Hell even L'Amours moved from Brooklyn to Staten Island ::Yikes::

I think if I slept on the floor, I think you'd be hearing "I slept on the floor and I can't get up" laugh

In reference to your question....Ummm I think all we have to do is look at the place we lived and how screwed up the people around us were...We were doomed from the start, we didn't have a chance D'oh!

You know the last time I was asked this question was in April of 2006, and I was going through a rough time, and my answer was this...

My heart is long padlocked and the key thrown away into the rivers. It was locked up to prevent all the pieces from falling aside. The only way to keep it still within its confines was to encase it in hard cold steel armor, to shield it from anyone's harm. Whether by slice of the tongue or the slash of a sword it has been shredded to pieces, therefore I must not be too careless, for I'd be sure to come to be harmed. Many have courted and poured out their souls, but I cannot be one to be tied. I am a spirited soul who has always longed to be free, and now that I am forever shall I be.

wow! It's amazing how much has changed since then.

Now it's simply become...

Love me for who I am and don't try to change me into someone I'm not. grin

poor claire
did you know islands usually have crazy scary weather?

I'm not either, but I don't have much choice at the moment. My a/c has been out since Friday night/ Saturday morning and since Monday my office is the coolest room because they brought in a portable a/c unit until they can fix the main one. rolling eyes I'm going to be calling the office and raising hell, because this is far from good for me and I refuse to sleep on this sofa another night it's throwing my neck and back out of alignment. I want my bed dagnabit!

Yes I know Islands have crazy weather...I lived on Staten Island and Long Island, the weather was always different hmmm Or was it just the people uh oh! dunno laugh

Dearest Cris......I'm so happy to see you are back on your feet.......at least somewhat. The 'old fart' has kept me posted about your progress. Just don't go overdoin it now.

I so admire you.....Patrick.....Cyndy......and all the 'others' like you for your strength and courage. Courage to know when it's time to let go......and strength to hang on and get through it. I'm still working on that.

Take yer time g/f......you know as well as I that making changes takes time.....(longer for some of us ). You've had a ton of people praying for your recovery......and a ton more willing to be there for you when you need us......and that one special friend who is always there......you know, that guy upstairs.
(Bet Patrick's head was blowin up this big thinkin I was talkin about him! )

Always remember.....that I , like you, are here for you even when I'm not there.

I won't be over doing anything. Besides as of Wednesday I'll be on 3 legs instead of 2 and I won't be doing much but taking it easy, I won't have a choice in that matter rolling eyes laugh

We both know how much of a struggle this ms thing can be. It just doesn't seem to get easier sometimes. You are always in my thoughts Pati. We've been on similar paths.

Papa Pat has been a huge help and blessing in all of this whether he knows it or not. Sometimes it's not easy to put some things into words because when you do or try to, sometimes all you can do is cry. I love that ornery old fart, even if he does step on a toe or 2 and hits nerves once in a while.

Always know that you're loved down here, and I can't wait til we can get together after all of this crap is over with.

Meningitis? Ack! (nearly chokes)

That's what they were worried about with me. All my visitors in the hospital had to wear masks until they cleared me of meningitis.

Thank god, sweet. That shite is nasty!

Just because you can drive now, lets not make up for lost time eh? Keep the rubber side down and the chassis between the ditches, righto?

That's what they did with me too, until they knew it wasn't bacterial.

It was pretty nasty, and got really ugly a few times.

I'll be keeping the rubber side down and between the ditches. I won't be racing that Cadillac any time soon with these gas prices. sigh

Glad to hear it doll.... I have only been near death as a kid...so I don't know what really happened as far as being critical because I was only 4 when it happened so I only have the odd memory of it...BUT when I got in my car accident...which was head on and had my kids with me....yet walked away basicly unharmed...well it sure made me stop and think and appreciate how short life can be just from the what if's....Even the cop said that we were lucky we all survived let alone walk away and the nurse who also spoke with the cop told me the same and she also said...you probably shouldn't even go look at the car...So yeah it was bad...yet someone or something had to be with us all that day....and it was soooooooo hard for me to think of the what if's...that everything for me or my children could have ended that very minute on that day...from something that we didn't even see coming...it made me an emotional wreck for awhile....especially when I thought of one of my kids being injured badly or worse.....So I think I might know a bit of what you're going through...and it is hard to process and get through...just the emotional part alone!!!!!!!!!!

I can't tell you how many boxes of tissues and rolls of paper towels I've gone through in this last week or so. The emotional upheaval and roller coaster has been quite a ride. I'm just very grateful in more ways than I could even say right now.

It's hard knowing that I could have left and never saw my children or my Granddaughter again, but I now can look at it as an opportunity to change the things that I haven't as of yet.

Yes as bizarre as it may sound sometimes a "near death" experience can be a "blessing" for it really teaches us who & what is "truly important" to us

I am happy for you Serenity that you were given the opportunity to stay alive and with all of us your CS family , as you share your experience with others, you will make a difference in their lives that no one but one who has walked where you have walked could share.... ok, enough philosphy

I never considered that it would happen, at least not like this. It has definitely given me a lot of new perspectives on life.
