We have a doctor in the house


It depends on how Benadryl affects you.
If you normally become drowsy after a dose,(usual side affect), I would wait until you were safely home.
Personally, I would wait until I was able to apply the lotion, then before bed, would take the Benadryl....

Nah...Doctor,I am not...But I DO have a bit of emergency medical training....and a bit of common sense. Meh, it gets me by...laugh

It is professional sound advice...I dealt with insect stings and allergic reactions on a regular basis in the warmer months while I was still an active Paramedic, for approx 12 years...

Snuggs09: I got stung in my hand by a bee. I thought the wind was blowing my hair and I attempted to pat my hair down but instead swated the bee. He got even and stung the palm of my hand......the fat part by the pointer finger.

I pulled the stinger out immediately but it still hurts like hell even after I put ice on it.

Any other suggestions to make it stop hurting.



Keep applying ice to the affected area for the inflammation and pain.
Once you're able to get to a store or pharmacy, purchase either Caladryl, or Calamine lotion. Either should offer quite a bit of relief.
Before going to bed this evening, consider taking a dose of Benedryl.
Hope it feels better soon.

There seems to be a lot of new thread creators taking part in the forums now, do you find this has improved the quality of the forums overall? Are the threads better now, the same or worse?
