Still, the liberl press hasn't picked it up. If they eat Joe Plumber for the question he asked they would have devoured this if it ha any merit. The press isn't that slow and certainly when it comes to McCain.

The mentality is "If you do not think or believe as I do you are stupid, not in touch with reality or both. I could go on and on but you're a bright guy and will probably be able to draw your own conclusions.

Biden's Fantasy World
Sarah Palin may not know as much about the world, but at least most of what she knows is true.
In the popular media wisdom, Sarah Palin is the neophyte who knows nothing about foreign policy while Joe Biden is the savvy diplomatic pro. Then what are we to make of Mr. Biden's fantastic debate voyage last week when he made factual claims that would have got Mrs. Palin mocked from New York to Los Angeles?

AP Start with Lebanon, where Mr. Biden asserted that "When we kicked -- along with France, we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, I said and Barack said, 'Move NATO forces in there. Fill the vacuum, because if you don't know -- if you don't, Hezbollah will control it.' Now what's happened? Hezbollah is a legitimate part of the government in the country immediately to the north of Israel."

The U.S. never kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, and no one else has either. Perhaps Mr. Biden meant to say Syria, except that the U.S. also didn't do that. The Lebanese ousted Syria's military in 2005. As for NATO, Messrs. Biden and Obama may have proposed sending alliance troops in, but if they did that was also a fantasy. The U.S. has had all it can handle trying to convince NATO countries to deploy to Afghanistan.

Speaking of which, Mr. Biden also averred that "Our commanding general in Afghanistan said the surge principle in Iraq will not work in Afghanistan." In trying to correct him, Mrs. Palin mispronounced the general's name -- saying "General McClellan" instead of General David McKiernan. But Mr. Biden's claim was the bigger error, because General McKiernan said that while "Afghanistan is not Iraq," he also said a "sustained commitment" to counterinsurgency would be required. That is consistent with Mr. McCain's point that the "surge principles" of Iraq could work in Afghanistan.

Then there's the Senator's astonishing claim that Mr. Obama "did not say he'd sit down with Ahmadinejad" without preconditions. Yet Mr. Biden himself criticized Mr. Obama on this point in 2007 at the National Press Club: "Would I make a blanket commitment to meet unconditionally with the leaders of each of those countries within the first year I was elected President? Absolutely, positively no."

Or how about his rewriting of Bosnia history to assert that John McCain didn't support President Clinton in the 1990s. "My recommendations on Bosnia, I admit I was the first one to recommend it. They saved tens of thousands of lives. And initially John McCain opposed it along with a lot of other people. But the end result was it worked." Mr. Biden's immodesty aside, Mr. McCain supported Mr. Clinton on Bosnia, as did Bob Dole even as he was running against him for President in 1996 -- in contrast to the way Mr. Biden and Democratic leaders have tried to undermine President Bush on Iraq.

Closer to home, the Delaware blarney stone also invited Americans to join him at "Katie's restaurant" in Wilmington to witness middle-class struggles. Just one problem: Katie's closed in the 1980s. The mistake is more than a memory lapse because it exposes how phony is Mr. Biden's attempt to pose for this campaign as Lunchbucket Joe.

We think the word "lie" is overused in politics today, having become a favorite of the blogosphere and at the New York Times. So we won't say Mr. Biden was deliberately making events up when he made these and other false statements. Perhaps he merely misspoke. In any case, Mrs. Palin may not know as much about the world as Mr. Biden does, but at least most of what she knows is true.

I joke around so much that when I'm not laughing my face seems to reflect anger in the eyes of those who don't really know me. People eventually figure me out and I suspect they will figure you out too. I would not try to be something you're not. If a happy face feels fake to you, you'll never sell it to others and shouldn't have to.

Under the current administrations plan that you all are crying to continue we have found ourselves up shi* creek without a proverbial paddle. What paddle do you suppose we should use. It cannot continue the way it has in my opinion.

The buisness you speak of are are not just cutting back now they are closing while the people loose their homes. Jobs have been outsorced, we already have a very high unemployment rate it's been growing all year. The tax rates and loopholes need to be adjusted and closed.

I will not mourn the loss of that, why do you. Seems you want the ghosts of Christmas past. Its a new year and a dire one now.

It seems to me that you are not looking at the reality of now.

Interesting point. The businesses I speak of are not just cutting back now, they are closing while people lose their homes. I agree so the right answer must be to increase the taxes on those and similar business' so that we can all reach the same level of poverty. laugh

There's a huge difference between the economic crisis we currently face and the economic plans touted by the candidates. Their plans are fundemental differences. The current economic madness we now faces was caused by a combination of failure to regulate, corruption, greed and forcing banks and other lending institutions to make loans to people who could not afford to repay the debts. These problems were caused by all and the solution will not be found in increasing taxes on anyone.

You made no comment on my earlier statement about people who do not need these tax credits (such as myself) will still be recipients. Do you think people like me should be on the receiving end of this plan? If so, I would think that Obama was right and this is simply a plan to spread around the wealth rather than helping those who really need it. How's that for reality?

Once upon a time, a man appeared in a village and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for €10 each. The villagers, seeing that there were lots of monkeys around, went out into the forest and started catching as many as they could, and the man bought thousands of monkeys at €10 each.

As supply started to diminish and villagers slowed down their efforts, he announced that now he would buy monkeys at €20 each. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.

Soon the supply diminished even further, and people started going back to their farms. The offer rate increased to €25 each, and the supply of monkeys became so low that it was difficult to even see a monkey, let alone catch one. So of course, our man now declared that he would buy monkeys at €50 each.

However, he suddenly had to go to the city on some urgent business, so he announced that his assistant would now buy monkeys on his behalf.

Once the man had gone, his assistant told the villagers, "Look at all
these monkeys collected by my boss in that big cage! I will sell them to you at R€35 each, and when he comes back, you can sell them back to him for €50 each."

Naturally, the villagers queued up with all their savings to buy monkeys at a throw-away price of €35 each, when the market rate was €50 each.

You left off the part where the monkey owner took the 35, didn't return and all those villagers were left with worthless monkeys and no money. Do you suppose they punished or spanked their monkeys in frustration? laugh

Look around you Sparky, the recession/depression is changing the numbers rapidly. There are lots of people who use to have money who don't now.

There are lots of programs who don't have funding even though they still have an empty shell of a name. You think we are being given the whole picture, no we are not!

We really have no idea of the trouble we are in so when you say "our money" I assume you are talking about the ones who are making over 250,000 still.

No, I am talking about anyone who works and will be at risk when some of those small business' reduce manpower due to increased taxes. People should not be penalized as a way to bring people out of poverty. This is the fundemental difference between the Reps and the Dems.

Everyone wants to succeed but I think there are too many who want success with little or no effort. There are exceptions for those unable to work and we should help people find jobs, get training, etc.. but that's where it ends for me. The amount of taxes we all pay now should be more than enough. Those unfunded programs should be evaluated and if found to be effective, funded by eliminating some of these programs/organizations that are not effective.

On a personal note. even with my current income and even though I am quite comfortable with what I have, my medical insurance, house, car and savings, I would be recepiant of these tax credits. What kinda sense does that make Sky? I will be partially responsible for someone losing their job or fully responsible for taking money from someone when I neither need it or earned it. I'll have to pass on the spread the wealth scheme. It's simply not fair and does not help those who really need it

A Pew Hispanic Center survey, released last month by the nonpartisan research group, shed new light on an old problem for Republicans and put wind in Obama’s sails.

Indeed, the report shows McCain struggling to match Obama’s support among registered Latino voters — with nearly 55 percent of respondents saying Obama is the better candidate compared to just 11 percent feeling the same of McCain.

I just like to see both sides using the same tactics.

I think we should do more of those Howard Stern type "Man on the street" surveys. They are probably the most telling as to what people really know and understand about the issues. The grossly uninformed public from both parties are turning this into a popularity contest and we'll get what we deserve. I will say that at least in the video under discussion now, the people showed at least a basic knowledge of Obama.

Hi Hugz,

We can agree to disagree on Obama. I don't think all aspects of NAFTA are as effective as I would like but there's something to be said about opening easier trade. The US and Canada have been pretty good partners thus far and while there's always opportunity to adjust the agreement, there's no need for the US to dishonor or pull out of it.
