Hi Everyone, just thought I'd introduce myself..

I'm currently working notice to finish a job here in the UK but am moving to Canada (BC/Alberta....maybe Yukon)in late September in search of a better quality of life and hopefully some adventures.

I think my profile says Williams Lake BC....I have an uncle there in whose house I'll be living for the fall then....who knows where.

I'm really on here to meet friends but you never know who might turn up next.

Cheers everyone,

I've worked for a couple of months at at time in the USA and would describe it as 'a great place to visit but wouldn't want to live there'.

I'm moving from the UK to BC/Alberta in five weeks time wave

I don't think I need add any more.

Having been single and alone for over 7 years I've had plenty of time to ponder this one.

I'm not happy being single at all but some of the worst things include:

People asking 'Why aren't you married?'
People saying 'You're a great guy, good looking, intellient, thoughtful, honest and considerate, you're everything women look for in a guy, you really should be with a partner'

It's too easy to fall into the stereotype 'lonely guy' trap where you realise you're the only guy in the bar without a partner....even if most of the others are actually argueing.

HOWEVER. Despite not liking being single I do appreciate all the good things like being able to take a weekend off and hop on a plane to some far off country for a day or two without having booked and planned every last detail. etc. etc.

When I look around at my friends and their partners I always end up thinking that I wouldn't swap with any of them...perhaps we singles are all looking for something too good?
People talk about 'lowering your sights' but the same people will often say don't sell yourself short as well. frustrated

I'm probably unusual in the fact that I've never dated a girl younger than me.
Smallest age difference was a few months so I guess that doesn't really count.
Biggest age difference was 12 years.

Best was still the one who was intellectually and emotionally my equal.
Worst was one who was 5 years older and treated me like a trophy so show her friends she could still attract 'young' guys. That was horrible.

I'm happy to admit that I have been a dreadful slob in the past....but that is in the past.

I do think that lots of people's 'slobbiness' is actually a symptom of something else like low self esteem etc.

Perhaps a 'lets sort out this mess together' approach might be more appropriate than 'I'm fed up with YOUR mess'.
