I don't need someone to take care of me. I can take care of myself. I want someone to be my friend, companion, lover, confidante.

Unfortunately, I've been in your shoes Hon. About 7 or 8 years ago, my daughter lost a dear friend to leukemia. He also happened to be a son of a good friend of mine from high school. His parents traveled all over to find something to help him. But as time wore on, we knew hope was dwindling.

I'll never forget the day my daughter called me from school & told me that he'd passed away. She was bawling. I left work early & picked her up. We cried together. I allowed her to talk about him anytime she felt she needed to with me. She even made a posterboard with pictures, articles, & poems that she had written for him.

Time seems to have helped with the healing process, but she'll NEVER forget him! I have to commend my daughter for dealing so well with the loss of her dear friend.

I'm sure it'll be hard for the both of you at first. Time does help. hug

date him b4 he leaves-

geez he has pursued this long

its just dating for gods sake
whats the big deal? thats what dating is for-
to sort things out and get a closer look

and as far as grandkids-italians-speakin as one raised in the culture

family structure is important tho not in the same ways as here
im sure he doesnt think at all about you having grandchildren
the more the merrier is the only way they look at it...

and im sorry but the whole americans thinking everyone wants to be here-
thats so inaccurate in these times
this country is completely disorganized and the dollar is worth 62cents to the euro and 50 cents to the pound

hate to say it but europeans are not interested in american citizenship by and large
and italians dont havre much trouble getting it on their own

this isnt 1985-marriage in another country, especially US
doesnt guarantee anything-look it up...

geez owen go to a few dinners and a movie-get out of your head and spend a couple hours with the guy
whats the harm? if it was a woman wouldnt you be available to make friends?

for all you know after a few dates HE will be uninterested.

He did say that the family structure was different here than it is there. He said over there, the entire family lives together. Whereas, here we all think we need our own individual homes... the bigger...the better, might I add. He didn't seem taken aback at all when I showed him the pics of my grandbabies. Again, I guess I'll just see what happens. Not sure that I want to get too serious with anyone right now.

He's been having people call me (as he doesn't speak English very well) practically every day, asking if we can hang out. I like him, but I'm very comfortable in my life right now. Besides, he'll be going back to Italy for a month. Then he'll be back for 6 months. I'm just not sure. He's been more of a gentleman than most of the bozos I've met from the US. He actually wants to do things outside of the bedroom! And he's very sweet & cute. The age difference does bother me... enough to be hesitant to ask him how old he actually is. He knows that I have grandchildren as well. Doesn't seem to bother him!

<-----This is my kitty cat, Minnie. She was my daughter's cat, but I brought her home to live with me, since my daughter has 2 little boys & a baby on the way.

OK, so I'm sitting on my sofa, watching TV last night, when I get a phone call. It's the Italian's cousin, saying that he's been going on & on about me all day & wants to get together with me. So, I went & picked him up & we went back to my place. Before you get any ideas, NOTHING happened!! I won't allow it.

We sat & talked... as best we could, since he hasn't mastered the english language & I only know spanish (not Italian) from 2 years of spanish class.

He told me I'm beautiful & that he really likes me. He wants to take me to Italy for a month to visit. He said I could stay at his house. He wants to come back over tonight. I'm in the process of painting my living room in my new house & he offered to help me with it.

All I can think of is that he's going to use me to get his green card. I know I'm terrible, but he's young & very handsome. And my father had it done to him by a French woman. They got married, she still had her home & he had his. After 2 years, she divorced him & disappeared. And no, he probably didn't know that was her intention. See, he had an aneurysm years ago & is easily taken advantage of.

Anywho, I'm not sure what I should do!! Any opinions here? dunno

I never have, but came very close one time. Luckily, HE stopped. Also luckily, he lives across the state from me. So I don't have to run into him. There was just a definite attraction there. But it's better left alone.

Mine was when I was 14 & he was dreamy. He had that surfer-dude look... dirty blonde hair & blue eyes. I was totally into him... until we kissed. It was like kissing a wet paper bag. Not to say that I might've kissed any better, but we never talked about it. And that was our first & last kiss.

I just found out a few months ago that the girl who is now one of my very best friends also kissed him & said the same thing! rolling on the floor laughing

But we both agree that he was HOT! In fact, she told me (she graduated with him, I went to a different school) that he'd become a stripper! dropping jaw

Tater wrote:
Ladies, Why is it when men show no signs of interests in you, you tend to try twice as hard to get us to like you, then if or when we start to show interest back, your automatically not interested anymore... Alot of times you do this even when you have no interest in the man to begin with? Is it just the ego trip or game that you enjoy, of knowing "I could have him if I want him" you even do these competitions against your girlfriends at bars/clubs and stuff "see if you can get a certain guy to like you more than your friends" People say men have higher ego's than women, I'm not so sure.........What do you say?

I would have to say that goes both ways, Tater. I've had it done to me probably more than I can recall having done it.
