I haven't been home all day and am jumping in on this one a little late but will answer honestly anyhow.......

Do you care about being popular?

I was once one of the more popular posters on this site. (Probably more due to the fact that I always seemed to be here rather than any real personality!) It was honestly nice to know that no matter how bad my day was in RL, I had somewhere to go that I could be cranky, flirty, down-right silly, serious or whatever mood I was in that day and always be greeted with welcoming open arms. It almost became an escape from reality....I left for a few months and now that I have returned, most of my forum friends are gone. The site isn't as much fun for me as it once was but I am sure by posting more frequently, new bonds will be made and it will become that again......So to answer the question......Yes, in the forums I guess I do care.

In RL --- not really.

How important is it to you? I don't really need to be liked by everybody but enjoy the feeling of having people around that are genuinely happy to see me and want to know what I have to say.

Do you tone down your comments rather than speak your mind? No. I don't tone down my comments but if I feel like my comments are going to be a moot point because whoever I am making them to seem too stubborn to care, I usually just move on.

Do you pander to social norms just to maintain being liked by the many? Simply no.

Do you make threads just to see your name on the first page? No....I do start threads because it is sometimes easier for me to talk to new people about subjects that are on my mind or dear to me rather than jumping into threads trying to talk to or make my point with people I don't know.

Would you risk your popularity to be up front with a friend or pal here? I don't tend to make many waves with too many people.....if I felt I needed to be upfront with a friend or pal here, I know where the email button is. Not everything needs to be said in a public forum.

Are you just a talking talker or a talk and walker?
Is this anything like a walkie talkie?

Unfortunately it just gets worse.....

I cringe every time I hear my "little girl" who is now 14 sing along to >>>>

kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chapstick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!

When my daughter was 4 I was helping her with her kindergarten homework. She had to tell me words that began with the letter "N" and I would write them down....

"Nookie" she said....I replied that I didn't think that was a word.

She rolled her eyes and said in a "I can't believe you're so stupid voice"....

"Yes it is mom...........We did it all for the nookie...the nookie...the nookie...."

6 months later I about fainted when I heard her outside yelling or the whole neighborhood to hear....

"I'm a genie in a bottle baby...you got to rub me the right way."

Stating that you are interested in having sex with somebody but you are not ready is not LYING.....I would think that is being extremely truthful. There have been plenty of times that I have been sexually attracted to a man but want to wait to see if there is an emotional attraction to go along with it..............in most cases.....no there wasn't.

It would be honest of him and would save their valuable time. In most cases it wouldn't go any farther than him stating what he is looking for. Both benefit from being honest.

applause

When a guy wants to discuss this possibility before we have even gone on a date, I am completely turned off and just don't go.

Who says so???

Lots of people want to get together for sex, your just not
one of them.
Its a real world out there, people have different agendas,
Some people would be quite happy to discuss this from
the outset.
Why do some people think everybody should play by their
rules!!!

I am not suggesting you play by my rules....for I don't have any. I was under the impression that this is still an open forum and I was allowed to state my opinion on the thread.....I wasn't aware that I needed to write "In my opinion before every thought I made."

But...if sex is all they are looking for....go for it....but why not do it on the sites that are specifically for sexual encounters....not DATING sites.

A man takes out a hooker, he "expects" to have sex. The hooker "expects" to be paid for her services. "To me", these are the only "expectations" between man and woman that are valid.

When "I" place expectations on any woman, "I" am setting "myself" up for disappointment....

I am trying to connect your point to the point I am trying to get across to the OP but I am sorry I can't....

He suggested he thinks a woman should state whether she is going to have sex with him or not before the perspective date takes place and stick by her answer.........My point is.........if he expects a woman to know the answer to this question then he should find a hooker. If she says she is going to have sex with him....she is....he is happy and she is happy.

Ummmmm yes they are. They are also professionals. If they tell the OP that they are going to have sex with him before the date......chances are, they mean it.

I just looked at the OPs profile......40 years old?!?!?! Geesh......grow up already!!!!

The only thing that was giving me hope was that the older women seemed to not be able to relate to the thread I had posted......I figured men got past this mentality and that I was going to finally find a REAL MAN in 10 years or so.

I made a thread high-lighting on this subject a week or so ago. I was intrigued that the woman in their very early thirties down to the twenties seemed to understand where I was coming from but the older ladies didn't. Sadly, this seems to be the mentality from most (please note I said MOST) men in their early twenties and thirties that are online "dating". It baffles me and frustrates me to no end.....

I carry the same views as Sommer. Why in the world should I HAVE to state that I am not looking for sex before a date?!?! Should sex be discussed?!?!....sure...after a connection has been made and it is apparent that it is going down that road naturally! I have actually made that view apparent to a few guys before we go out. They whole-heartily agree and then are the same men that are disappointed because it hasn't happened by the 2nd date.

OP....sex is not an extra-curricular sport. It is something that is supposed to happen naturally through the course of a RELATIONSHIP. (You know...one of those things where you find somebody that intrigues you so much that you want to stop dating other people and completely focus on them for awhile.)

My suggestion......and I am not trying to be funny here....

If you want a girl to state whether or not she is going to have sex with you before you take her out and spend the 4.99 on the value meal then.........take out a hooker. It's a sure thing and you are both happy.

Shoes!!!!!!!!!! smitten MY biggest addiction!! I technically have over 300 pairs but I have at least 100 pairs of flip-flops. I'm not sure if those count.....it is a necessity being a beach girl though. Odd thing...I only own one pair of sneakers and I have no idea where they are.

I don't really look at expensive shoes much but I have a few pairs.....my favorites are a $300 usd pair of Kenneth Cole strappy sandals with a wood wedge heal.

Dark Knight - 9/10 --- I had no intention of watching this since I'm not a huge fan of Super Hero movies but WOW!!!! Awesome!!! Ledger will win awards.....I agree with some other posters....Gyllenhaal was not the right actress for the part. I just couldn't buy her as Batman's all-time love. I think Katie Holmes should have been re-casted but I suppose she is too high of a commodity now.

Mamma Mia - 4/10 --- I am probably the only woman on earth that didn't realize this was a musical. I took a guy friend to the midnight show. We were the only ones in the theatre. We both wanted to leave after 10 minutes but I stayed because the look on his face when somebody broke out in song and dance was priceless.......it took him a week to call me after that stunt!!

Hancock - 7/10 --- Very cute but not what I was expected. Some dark humor not meant for kids. Good story line at first but the ending was a little hard to follow.

Pineapple Express - 6/10 --- Funny and sick humor. Definitely going to be on every college guy's fave 10 for awhile.

Get Smart - 4/10 --- Ehhhhh I was bored to tears....all of the funny parts were shown in the trailers......maybe a renter if you have already cut your toenail callouses and have nothing better to do.

Tomorrow will be Swing Vote.....(I have a lot of free time lately!!! LOL)
