Okay, hypothetically, if Obama wins the democratic nomination, and, hypothetically, wins the presidential election, is it possible for race to become a non-issue and that he will be judged on his performance alone? That is, will he ever be just the president, or will he always be the black president?

Looking for thoughtful, considered, fair, and reasonable replies--Thanks

Also, please be respectful of each others' opinions...

In my opinion, if Obama does hypothetically become president, he will undoubtedly make history, but on the other hand, it will possibly create a whole other mess of problems. We will always have the racist who will hate this man. Obama has an eloquent style and can certainly excite and inspire a crowd, but we still do not know much about him. His record in the Senate is public record, but it is also unremarkable. I am afraid America is not ready for a black president. It will only take some backwoods redneck to go into the streets and create a riot situation that will again put the black and white issue back in the forefront. Sure, there has been great progress since Martin Luther King made his famous speech but not enough. As a Southerner, I still see so much racial hatred towards black persons, and it is truly sad that we humans can not see and accept the differences between the races and live in harmony with everyone respecting and having empathy for one another. I just don't believe that now is the time for Obama to be president and yes, I'm sorry to say, he will probably be known as the "black president"

sad

My occupation prevents me from having a relationship and I do not believe in doing drive-bys...

Many of the men I work around are whore dogs... I would never have anything to do with them.

I believe self-respect is important. I would not have sex unless I was in a healthy relationship for quite sometime and knew this was the man I wanted to spend my life with.

It is okay to choose to live this way. I am very happy

I have been celibate for about that long myself and I am happy with that situation. When and if I meet a man that I can trust with my most private part, I might give it to him. So far, there haven't been any men that rate it. They are all looking for a brief fling and want to take all they can and then leave. STD'S are vile things and I would much rather abstain than be infected with someone's germs. barfing

Lee Iacocca Says:

"Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder. We've got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car.

The most famous business leaders are not the innovators but the guys in handcuffs. While we're fiddling in Iraq, the Middle East is burning and nobody seems to know what to do. And the press is waving 'pom-poms' instead of asking hard questions. That's not the promise of the " America " my parents and yours traveled across the ocean for.

I've had enough. How about you?

On September 11, 2001, we needed a strong leader more than any other time in our history. We needed a steady hand to guide us out of the ashes. A Hell of a Mess.

So here's where we stand. We're immersed in a bloody war with no plan for winning and no plan for leaving. We're running the biggest deficit in the history of the country. We're losing the manufacturing edge to Asia , while our once-great companies are getting slaughtered by health care costs. Gas prices are skyrocketing, and nobody in power has a coherent energy policy. Our schools are in trouble. Our borders are like sieves. The middle class is being squeezed every which way These are times that cry out for leadership.

But when you look around, you've got to ask:

"Where have all the leaders gone?"
Name me a leader who has a better idea for homeland security than making us take off our shoes in airports and throw away our shampoo? We've spent billions of dollars building a huge new bureaucracy, and all we know how to do is react to things that have already happened.

Name me an industry leader who is thinking creatively about how we can restore our competitive edge in manufacturing. Who would have believed that there could ever be a time when "The Big Three" referred to Japanese car companies? How did this happen, and more important, what are we going to do about it?

Name me a government leader who can articulate a plan for paying down the debit, or solving the energy crisis, or managing the health care problem.

The silence is deafening. But these are the crises that are eating away at our country and milking the middle class dry.

I have news for the gang in Congress. We didn't elect you to sit on your asses and do nothing and remain silent while our democracy is being hijacked and our greatness is being replaced with mediocrity.

What is everybody so afraid of? That some bonehead on Fox News will call them a name? Give me a break.

Why don't you guys show some spine for a change?

Had Enough?

Hey, I'm not trying to be the voice of gloom and doom here. I'm trying to light a fire. I'm speaking out because I have hope I believe in America . In my lifetime I've had the privilege of living through some of America's greatest moments. I've also experienced some of our worst crises: the "Great Depression", "World War II", the "Korean War", the "Kennedy Assassination", the "Vietnam War", the 1970s oil crisis, and the struggles of recent years culminating with 9/11. If I've learned one thing, it's this:

"You don't get anywhere by standing on the sidelines waiting for somebody else to take action.

Whether it's building a better car or building a better future for our children, we all have a role to play. That's the challenge I'm raising in this book. It's a call to "Action" for people who, like me, believe in America . It's not too late, but it's getting pretty close. So let's shake off the crap and go to work. Let's tell them all we've had "enough."

Make a "real contribution" by sending this to everyone you know and care about......our future is at stake.

The Gavel
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi

Across the country, the price of oil keeps getting higher and higher, and American families are getting pummeled hit hard at the pump amidst a weakening economy. Regular gasoline reached $3.56 a gallon this week 23 percent more than a year ago, and more than double the price when President Bush took office. While the Democratic-led Congress has passed a number of key bills to reduce the burden of rising gas prices, the President has threatened to veto each and every one. It is time for the President to end his stubborn opposition and support key House-passed legislation such as the No Oil Producing and Exporting Cartels (NOPEC) Act, The Energy Price Gouging Act, and the Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Tax Act.

This week, Speaker Pelosi urged the President to temporarily suspend deliveries of oil to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), which could cut as much as five to 24 cents off a gallon of gas. Currently, the reserve is nearly 97 percent full; suspending delivery will increase oil supply as well as lower energy prices, by sending the message to stop runaway speculation. This is not an unprecedented action: before the first Gulf War, the first President Bush withdrew oil from the SPR, and the current President Bush withdrew oil following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Unlike Senator McCain's plan to impose a temporary tax moratorium that may not even reach consumers and may not even be passed on to Americans our plan will help consumers instead of helping Big Oil reap even bigger profits.

As Big Oil companies rake in billions of dollars, American families need someone on their side. ConocoPhilips, the third largest oil company, reported this week that its first quarter earnings climbed 17 percent $4.1 billion for the first quarter, a nearly $600 million profit. In the House, Democrats have already passed legislation to fight high gas prices. Now it is time for the President, and his Republican allies in Congress, to stop protecting Big Oil, and start working to bring relief to Americans feeling the pain at the gas pump. It really chaps me that the idiot shrub said he would VETO any bills regarding lowering the rising cost of fuel!!!
Why is this creature still the President??? It is so obvious that he wants death and destruction to come to our Nation!! Why hasn't Congress Impeached him and his gang??? They are CRIMINALS!!!
All opinions on this are very welcome.

I'm with you sister!!! I have stopped buying gas unless absolutely necessary. I have started only pumping $20 at a time and I only use it in an emergency. If the rest of us would do the same, maybe it would help in some small way. I take the bus if at all possible and walk the rest of the time. I think I'll invest in a pair of rollerskates...laugh laugh
