I couldnt resist this one......
my thoughts:
Should we have gone in? well, no one disagrees that the guy (saddam)
was a pretty vicious dude. should we have done it? eventualy probably.
..but we're there....so now waht...all the "shouldnt have" in the
world wont do any good. Withdrawl date?...would you if you owned a
bank announce when you'r security team wasnt on duty?.....
I wont deny this is a very poorly strategized war....the powers
that be dropped the ball...i tend to agrea with the Powell doctrine
of "overwhelming force". War sucks...its ugly...lot of people die.
there is no such thing as a gentle war or a politicly correct war
or a war where civilians dont die....sometimes lots of them....
i do believe its time the iraqi govt stepped up to the plate and
grabbed its own country by the balls....many of my countrymen died
so they could have the opertunity to do so....as well as a great
number of their countrymen...they alone should be incentive enough.
Although they are starting to get a grip on their own country....and
talking to a great many servicemen who've been there....alot of the
country is pretty secure despite the media hype....there alot of
work to be done and iraq is taking more and more responsibility and
there is a loosly functioning ELECTED government. lets not forget
how long it took to form our own functioning democratic government.
and if im not mistaken....27 years to draft, agrea upon and ratify our own constitution.....iraq has done this in less than 3 years..
nothing short of a mirical in terms of governmental time. lets not
forget either when we talk about civil war over there taht we ouirselves were devided once in the growing pains of our country.
nations arent built in months or even a few years.
