Are Islam and Muslim both religions?? If so are they the same? If not what's the difference? Is one a religion & one a nationality?

I am NOT trying to be a wise-a$$. I truly do not know, I want to understand my middle-eastern brothers & sisters better.

Hi lass..nice for you to have interest..
I will go further and say Islam itself is broken down into three major groups of followers...just like christianity hs different churches although under the same umbrella.
Sunnis..shi'ites...and sufism...I am a follower of sufism and have been for 7 years now...we all read the Qu'ran just as christians follow the bible...There is only one text of the Qu'ran but it has been translated into other languages..It does make it difficult as some arabic words cannot be translated into a definite meaning in english....
I was fortunate enough to study in the Middle east under the guidance of a sheikh in university so I learnt the arabic version and language thoroughly....

Its brilliant when good humoured people can take it to their graves...
I laughed when Billy Connolly said he will have a trigger that produces a recording of him shouting...What the hell are you doing standing on me!!! I am sure it will frighten some people..

Quite accurate according to my own writing...not my medical jargon..we all write non legible scribble...lol

And I noticed...Huge letters: Indicate someone who's theatrical, usually loud, and needs to be the center of attention at all times.
...when people are drunk their writing size usually increases!!!!

I don't think I personally life in my body..It just seems to be the vehicle that lugs me around and lately totally neglected..
I know my state of 'mind' very much controls my state of physical being.
If I am tired or in human need I convince myself otherwise...
Wehn I was in the Middle East I practised often the rituals of fasting ..I had minute food and water for an entire 30 days and felt the healthiest I ever have because of the spiritual environment I was within..
I use forms of meditation for short breaks away from my body and often heal my own pain through thought process alone..
Having an understanding of chakras and colours can benefit ones health and energy levels..It is simply learning to read and interpret your own body...I meet some people that are complete strangers with theirs...

Personally, I'm not religious. I just go on my happy way trying to be a good person in life. That's my goal. I don't pray or go to church or follow any set of rules, but I keep an open mind that religion or a god may or may not exist. Who knows? I don't. You don't. Religion is something that gives some hope and others disappointment. It is the nature of all things. Even if we don't personally believe and are skeptical of it, I think we should all be open minded about it. I think religion sends good messages.... be kind to others, be a good person, etc. Some people take it to the extreme and use it as an excuse to kill others. You cannot judge religion based on the extremists, because religion was not meant to be taken that literally. Just take it for what it is. No way to me is the wrong way, we all have our own ways. Arguing about it doesn't solve anything. Let everyone believe what they want to believe.

Rotten politicians, shagging Swedes... my, my - all these wafty generalizations. You're entitled to your opinion of course, and to lead your life the way you see fit - as does everyone else (at least in the free world).

From personal experience I can with certainty say however, that there are a good many politicians who are rot-less, and many, many Swedes who love to travel the world in order to experience other things than shagging.
