Today I was grocery shopping and I was watching an old couple. They were probably in their 70's.

The guy was pushing the cart, and the gal was walking next to him.

I watched them check out. She was paying, and he was standing behind her rubbing her back while she handed the cashier her money.

I watched them walk out to their car. He opened her car door for her and loaded the groceries into the trunk. He got into the car, and kissed his wife even before closing his door.

It got me thinking. I want to be that couple. I want to be old with someone and experience life with a partner.

I want to be a part of the simple things. Picking out ripe bananas, planning the weeks meals, suggesting good smelling body soap.

Placing my hand on my partner's back or shoulder, not necessarily as a sign of affection, but a confirmation that I am there with her.

Opening her door. Kissing her.

I think maybe I'm too picky. Maybe I'm not. Dunno.

Bummer is; she lives in the apt., above me.

Like my ex girlfriend used to tell me...... the bus stops every 15 minutes. She was right.

You get an all expensed paid vacation in Jamaica, if she shows up...

Does anybody invest their extra money (if you have any)? If so, where do you invest it? CD's, money mkt acct, stocks & bonds, Metals, mutual funds, ETF's, sock drawer, under the mattress etc?

I don't expect many people to post in this thread because people will discuss their sexual perversions before they will ever say a word about money.

So, I will say that unless your money is growing faster than the rate of inflation, you are actually getting poorer.

hahaha, the best thing about my bed, apart from the duck feather quilt, is that it is all mine and even if people do stay over, they dont ever get to sleep in my luxurious haven - but the neighbours think otherwise I am positive good night

its so bad here that if any of my female friends stay overnight I see the curtains twitching like theres a March wind behind them

haha, this is a really small community and until you have about 5 generations in the local graveyard you are not considered a local - having lived here for about 15 yrs I'm gettting the swing of things and they expect the unsual of me too - its really strange living here and coming from a city.

There are a lot of old people here too and oddly enough, they seem more accepting than some of the younger, more xenophobic ones - almost as if they are ready to embrace the changes.......

CAREER,EMOTIONAL,FAMILY,FINANCIAL,SPIRITUAL,PHYSICAL!

Finding these is one thing.
Maintaining them is another.

I know I neglect the physical and financial more than the others...
My spiritual and family always come first but my work is very much the balancing tool in my life...
I am happy with the way things are though..I generally keep them on a even keel nowadays and maintain consistency..it took a lot of juggling to get here.

Thoughts?

It takes time..people are always on guard..When I lived in the middle east I was the only non arab where I resided...Women slammed their doors when I passed..Soon their curiosity got the better of them and we became such solid friends..We taught each other so much about histroy, cooking and had such laughter...

I know you are a strong woman and are one the those people that will bring change..we all seek it..some of us are just afraid and the first reaction is usually jealousy and spite.

but how to change this is my quest - to speak of it and to bring attention to it - it is something I am living right now and somehting which brings pain to people who I know, they are actually experiencing this and I guess I am too cos it happens in our viallge and I hate it - my immediate neighbours are friends but in the larger community, immigrants are not very well accepted.......
