HA HA!(sorry for laughing luv)-but your last paragraph reminded me of those fortunate people who bought a Rolls Royce car new and if it developed a fault and you were the sole owner-the car was trailered away and returned within a very reasonable time-always with the same statement-'No Fault Found Sir'-not too sure if that applies these days though?-cant see it applying to computers!!!!.
laugh that thought did cross my mind so could be interesting to see if a similar thing happens in this case or not wave

Regarding tv licence lets get rid of it. Along with the NHS! Both cost me a fortune each year!!

Computer: You've checked it's getting power (by swapping monitor and base-unit power leads? - could be a blown fuse or lose power lead)

Is the base unit dead when you try powering it up? Any LED's lit on it? If none - probably PSU is blown - get supplier to fix under guarantee.

If base unit looks and sounds OK - it's either a monitor (most likely or base unit graphics card problem. Get supplier to fix.

If it looks like PC goes through initial boot screens but Windows fails to start, does it come up with any error messages? It could be you've just got a corrupt operating system. In which case you'll need a Windows Operating System CD - and could fix the fault yourself.

Most PC's can be opened without leaving any trace. Also what does their "no tamper" policy mean? PC's are designed to be easy to upgrade with additional memory, disk drives, graphics cards etc. I wouldn't call this tampering but normal upgrading and customisation.

If you got your soldering iron out and made a few electronic changes to the motherboard, that would be tampering.
wave Thanks for that, yes we tried a different monitor and checked the leads and still nothing happened, no lights came on or anything. Courier is coming to collect it on tuesday and taking it to london to be fixed under guarantee, will cost £41 and take two weeks so not too bad really.

If they put a letter in saying what the fault was I'd put it in this thread laugh or maybe they'll just repair it and send it back with no explanation dunno

I personally object to the way the strong arm of the law is used to further persecute people who cant pay this extortionate licence fee - surely the police have better things to be getting on with and the prisons were intended for an altogether different type of inmate too - what do you think
I think we should keep the TV licence because the programmes are so fantastic thumbs up I have my tv permanently on BBC1 even when it's turned off. Now, if that's not a show of love and devotion then I don't know what is heart wings I'm not sure of exact price probably between £140-£150 notes. But, I'm sure it's worth every penny. I think we'd be better off getting rid or at least reducing council tax. know for sure I'd be £700 a year better off then professor

Hello Zellarrone

If this assists you in any way then you are welcome.

You will eventually receive a Notice of Intended Prosecution-fill it in and return it to the Court emphasing a GENUINE and ONGOING reason why you are unable to honour the termination of the Letting Contract(assuming notice has been served)-you dont need a solicitor-you can do it yourself-ABOVE ALL-DONT stop paying regular rent(if you do-that can change the goalposts?)-you may possibly be required to attend a preliminary hearing to explain your reasons?-but the full hearing will be some lengthy time later?-if you have children living with you(under 17) in the Letting-then that MAY be to your advantage?-But please be aware-District Judges are known as LOOSE CANNONS-Nothing is guarranteed?-except that eventually the Letting will be vacated and returned to the owner.Contractual repairs are an independent issue to termination-but may be considered in mitigation?.

Hope this assists you.
Hi wave and thanks. well at least I know what to expect if worse comes to the worse and I don't manage to get something sorted soon.

I followed yours and SB'S advice and told him not to touch it so he rang them back and they said they'll repair it free but he's got to pay the courier £50 because it's in the second year of guarantee so dunno if he's going to do that or try and get someone local to do it wave
