Here is the way things are. The person and their ex have a child. Young but not to young (8-11). Now the couple have not been together for years but they live in a house that is like a duplex. They each have there own full living space nothing is shared other then the laundry room. They only see each other in the morning when the father stops in to pick up the child for school, or if they need to talk about their kid. The question would you date someone that lived like this? I am asking for both the male and female feelings on this.
No I wouldnt been there and it didnt work out.

I would hope I had the self confidence to date someone still close to their ex.

My ex (my son's father) has been diagnosed with leukemia and diabetes. He requires a great deal of medical treatment/testing and I offered to help in any way I could. He accepted as all his family lives far away. I would hope the compassion I show for my ex would not deter a man from wanting to date me.

No. I think it would have negative effects on the child.

I have no children, but feel that I can respond on the emotional level.

As long as that person did not have feelings/romantic for the ex and all relations were gone other than the child, and I had strong feeling for that person, I might could deal with it.

I guess my problem is I have no ties with my ex, so whatever man finally gets me......hehe.....is not getting a lot of other issues to deal with.

Have to go with how you feel about the person, do you care about them enought to take what comes with them?

My ex and me get along great. We haven't seen each otherin a long time except in passing a while back and at my daughter's graduation. My daughter's idea not mine by the way. I try not to tempt fate because I have enough problems to deal with but that is just me. I am afraid I would lose at the game of Russian roulette, eventually.

I dated my ex for 7 years, we still go out to karaoke 3 times a week and still have late night conversations, I just sold him and his wife a house!! We are best friends! She had a really hard time with it at first and so have a couple of the guys that I have dated, but in all honesty...we are just really good friends! I think that as long as they are past the feelings of love for each other, it would be fine!!
