I don't know much about Hinduism but I've heard that our existence is merely Vishnu's dream.
It is expected that one day Vishnu will wake up.

Hmmm... If it's true that necessity is the mother of invention, would profanity be the bastard child? laugh

"Next in importance to having great aim is recognizing the correct psychological moment to pull the trigger."grin

The_Kansan: My friend, Wonderworker, inadvertantly started me on this particular bent and so should probably be either flogged or flowered appropriately.

Two excerpts. Two authors, each well known in his own right, but perhaps not as widely read as other literary giants:

1st:

When I was daft as urchins are
And full of fairy lore
I shot an arrow at a star
And hit... the barnyard door.

I've shot at heaps of stars since then
And always it's the same;
A barnyard door has mocked me when
Sirius was my aim.

But I'll shoot starward as before
Tho' wide my arrows fall,
I'd rather hit a big barn door
Than never aim at all.2nd:

"It's a helluva' thing. When a man opens a book or fires a gun he has no idea what the affect will be or how far the shot will travel."

So come on you deep thinkers and ponderers of the imponderable. Share your thoughts and ideas on the subject(s). I'm curious to know your take on these things...

We explore as the curious beings we are.

We observe

We live

We learn

We create a meaningful purpose for our journey

We embark on our journeys to find out what we need to know and feel we should do and accomplish

We live

We learn

and eventually overcome or give up

but we're gonna try because of that voice in our heads

"You have to believe we are magic

Nothin' can stand in our way

Don't let your aim ever stray

And if all your hopes survive

Your destiny will arrive"

Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death.~Anais Nin

"People living deeply have no fear of death."~Anais Nin

"Time is a companion that goes with us on a journey. It reminds us to cherish each moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we have lived."~Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Star Trek: Generations

Just some quotes that I love for what they say of how life should be lived, to add some musings on life, and what it means to live it to its fullest. I thought you might enjoy them, Kansan. wine

Indeed. And it brought to mind a few others:

"There are those who will not draw simply because they know I am gifted with considerable dexterity in dispensing the justice of Judge Colt. There are those who might draw, but they know that I know who they are and that, as a result, they would be the first to die. Then there those who might draw and beat me, but know that I am dying from tuberculosis and, as such, have no fear of death and that it is nearly impossible to beat a man who doesn't give a damn." ~ Louis La'Mour

"Ain't nothin' that'll rattle a man more than standin' still when you oughtta' be runnin' like a striped assed ape." ~ Willie Nelson from the movie "Barbarosa"

"When I shuffle off this mortal coil, if even one person says about me 'He was a good man and a good friend and he will be missed.' then my life will have been a success regardless of any personal accomplishments or failures." ~ The Kansan (Don McCrary)

"Uh, no Ma'am, we're Border Patrol, not policemen - we don't have any balls." ~ Kris Kristofferson to Jean Smart

"I have half a handshake,
Take it and you'll see
Together we'll be friends
And that's the way that it should be." ~ Mac Davis~"Sara's Song"
