Right now I am alone not by choice exactly...I was widowed in 07 but now wanting to get back into life again and date.... I was talking to one here for over a month then he disapeared and quit answering me... then started talking about a month later again and disapeared again so no more chances for him. We were talking on the phone and in emails.

Most of the people are too far away to date.I don't have too much confidence in finding someone via websites,you really have to go out and mingle if you want results.

The one I was talking to was only about 50 miles away, I know he wasnt lying about that at least by the phone number and I know the town he lives in. But you are right most are too far away

I look at it like this: If I meet someone,fine,if not,that's ok too.I mainly just like meeting new people from around the world and different walks of life.I don't look for perfection,because there is no such thing..And I am sorta a busy person,but that doesn't mean I don't make time for myself.Sooo...I'm RELAXED~

I agree if one comes along fine, i think I have a better chance meeting someone at my job or at a grocery store even. But I am fine with that... I also dont have alot of time.

To be happy and find love and share your 'aloneness' with another human being you need to first accept the fact that you shall ALWAYS be alone inside your own particular Hell of a screaming skull!

Once you accept the fact that, as a conscious being, you have to live out your life like some shining but lonely little star light years away from some galactic mind and physical union then you can grow as a human being, and not expect too much from other people.

I hope this doesn't sound negative - I'm really quite a positive guy with a good heart and lots of good friends............... ok, so they all think I'm a little weird - but so are they to me!

Who says you HAVE to be with someone? I was with someone for years and felt alone...and being alone isnt THAT bad...It has its ups and downs,but just not that KIND of ups and downs that you would have if you were with someone,lmao...

Well, for me...my friends tell me I'm "too picky"! I don't think so, and at my age now...I'm looking for someone that would be less likely to want a divorce later on. I want commitment, and there is no way of detecting that from another. Realistically...I don't have the years left, that I had 20-30 years ago. With what I have left...I would like to spend those in romantic bliss!

After being through two divorces, you can't help being more picky, cautious, and leary of the next possibility. I realize it's not fair to make someone else pay for past experiences. What is in the past, should stay in the past...but we still learn from the past.

I think alot of is that exact bolded answer. I don't think it's however so much a case of stupidity, as it is, we are afraid to make the first move. Both men & women, expect the other to be the one to initiate contact. Shame that enough of us (myself included) aren't bold enough to be the one that makes first contact. I'm not saying this is the case all the time, however, I think this has a great deal to do with it.

I agree with you and we should never ignore our gut instincts.However that said, this comes back to logic vs. emotion in a way.To apply logic to this stuff robs us of emotional possibilities.(keeps us guarded and safe from future heartache too)

I think it is quite understandable that women don't make the first move because it is generally not in their nature to be aggressive and go after men. And as far as men are concerned, they do take the first moves but,in most cases, their actions and words are incoherrent which don't augur very well to the generally judgemental women.
