The same reason they do it in real life... fear of commitment and it´s not only men... it´s easy to pursue something if you don´t think it can work... but when it has a possibility of working out, there are men and women who will bolt.

Also talk is cheap... some people just say what they think other people want to hear

most men don't fear the actual commitment part, it is who they might be commiting themselves too.... that might make them rethink the relationship..laugh
