RobertC2: I remember once being cold and hungry and picking up some blankets from a lady who had helped my grandparents........... my grandparents had died and this lady gave me their blankets in a black plastic bag.

I walked back to the cold room I was renting and as I walked along the pavement a car went past and hit a puddle and soaked me.

There was a cute little dog in the back of the car and I felt sad that that cute little dog had a far better life than a human being........ and it seemed to be laughing at me as I walked slowly in the rain carrying that bag of blankets feeling so physically cold and so alone in the world.

I wanted to cry, but I didn't even have the energy to do that.

Shirley49WV: That is why I have my first garden and buying a side of beef for my freezer. We don't know what this year will bring. But I am getting myself as prepared as I can.


Good for you... I am doing the same with the garden. If I need meat, I will shoot a deer... even out of season. As things stand now, there is way too much overtime to fear for my job.

We all do what we have to do each day. I wouldn't be who I am today without going through those periods. I volunteer at the local soup kitchen because I remember what it was like to be on the other side of that serving line. I help others because I was helped.

Me and my babies were homeless...twice no less. I had a job and three kids, and then I was homeless because my husband was crazy
and the police suggested me and the kids leave. I had to start over from scratch. I thought I could not do it, but I managed. I was so broke trying to get just beds and stuff for them to sleep in when I found a place to live.
