With so many places in turmoil in the middle east, is easy to overlook certain pieces of news.

As many of you know, our friend Sparky55 recently relocated to Kabul, Afghanistan after his retirement from the USAF. He is now doing what he does best, which is doing good, for others and his country.

As I understand, an U.S. Base in Afghanistan, 25 miles northeast of Kabul suffered a rocket attack, four US troops were killed and many others were wounded. President Obama has ordered many more troops, the number of troops now the highest ever. So far this year 80 US troops have been killed in Afghanistan.

Join your hearts, your minds and your hearts in prayers, no matter your faith, your religion, nor your political affiliation.

Pray for all the innocents, pray for all those boys, men, fathers, sons, brothers, in Afghanistan, trying to keep the peace in a place that frankly...I'll shut up now.

This is a serious thread, that really deserves a bit of attention, but the boob thread and the wonderful man thread and the racist DWA thread are getting more responses.

C'mon guys...I know most of you are better than that...

Offer a prayer for those friends in far and dangerous places... one day it could be a son, a brother, a husband, a nephew... We all can use some prayers.

my youngest leaves for his second term in dec. as far as i know hes goin back to iraq. so my prays go to all the fighting men and womans abroad.

I've served in both places...Iraq in 2004 and Afghanistan (where Sparky is now) in 2007. I have friends in both places. There is no more positive energy for the men and women in these countries than what I have to offer.
Come home safe, Sparky...and Janice in Iraq, and Alex in Iraq, and Hoyt and Carol (soon in Kabul), and Anne-Louise in Kabul, and Patrick in Iraq, and Chris in Iraq, and so, so many others. You see, for me, these are real people...people I have laughed with and worked with and sometimes cried with.

Whatever your religion, whatever your faith, you can offer up a prayer.

This is not a thread to post about your religious affiliations. Is to remember those in dangerous circumstances...not criticizing, not stirring $hit like you are doing right now...we only aske for prayers and positive thoughts.

If you are in the mood to criticize and just be unsupportive, you can find a different thread. Here, we care for others.

My deepest and sincere prayers goes to those caught in the middle, all the innocents, women children the old...

BTW, Sparky works in Relief, not as attack / defense forces. Not everyone in Afghanistan is part of the troops. Many UN workers, USAID, they are there trying to make the best out of something that is so clearly rotten for so many.

have my share of prayers as well . BTW , Not all those women,childern young boys, men, fathers, sons, brothers, who were killed ,tortured and raped by your young boys, men, fathers, sons, brothers, were not terrorists either.

OP, you rock for taking the time to acknowledge those in far away lands putting their lives on the line for a better world. I wish more threads would pop up about subjects such as this, but on that note, like with the media, I realize noone wants to post something unless it gives them attention for the most part (everyone wants shock & awe topics it seems). Again, thankyou for taking the time to remember the true problems of the world and giving those that are dealing with them spotlight.

Agree'd, one life sacraficed is one too many. I hope for the day that people of the world can live with one another without conflict. I'm sure there are many soldiers that would rather be unemployed as soldiers rather than there be a need for such a thing.
