Now, for those of you who have been here a while, this is our chance to help someone else in here who may be having trouble with the profile creation thing, so if you have any useful tips on how to write one or what catches your eye when you look at other profiles please share them...

Many thanks in advance...

Tip # 1 - NO TEXT SPEAK - It helps the reader of your profile if they dont have to try and decipher what you profile says. Its lazy too.

Tip # 2 - Get your age right - it seems pretty elementary but there are those who forgot what year they were born (on purpose or not, who can tell?) it would work against you if you have stated that you are 21 and your pictures place you around 41.

Tip # 3 - Photo's if you are going to post a photo, make sure it recent and not one of you when you were a teenager, this is only if youre going to post one...

try and post a recent photo. People much prefer seeing a face to the description.

Tip # 3b Post a picture of YOU - we all like animals but when someone looks at your profile and sees just pictures of cats, then....

Tip #4 - When writing about yourself, try and keep it bright and cheery nothing kills interest like doom and gloom, except for lying... dont do that either, liars always get caught out.

Tip #3c Think about whats in the background of your photo too. Not everyone is a neat freak but if your background looks like a major storm has been through 5 mins ago it may be a little off putting.

I like to have a joke thrown in somewhere-it's nice to know someone is actually reading the profile

When you post a picture on your profile - make sure it is straight up - not sideways or upside down. It is difficult to take someone seriously when they make your neck sore.

I think I'll pass... I will only have everyone write very bad profiles so mines will look good... Or will I???

Try to fill out as much of your profile as you can. Again it is difficult to take anyone seriously who's self description is filled with 'blah, blah, blah' - it's pretty easy to pick out the ones who are putting in enough garbage to make the word minimum. Not someone I would be interested in pursuing.

Say what some of your interests are, please. I hate it when someone says "I'd like to find someone with similar interests" and I have to wonder "to what?!"

Right. I always tell people who want their profile reviewed to focus on 'good' stuff. Too many times I see that folks highlight what isn't/hasn't worked for them. Don't want to sound like a talkshow host, but it's human nature to shy away from too many can'ts, don'ts, nevers, won'ts, "i've been hurts" , ad nauseum. Everyone knows life isn't a bowl of cherries. Kind of like going to the Fair and complaining about the livestock. No one wants to hear it. My advice, as always, stay on the sunny side of the street. (thank you Mother Maybelle Carter!)

Imagine it is your mom telling a friend about you.
Imagine taping it.
Imagine editing out the "too much" bits.
Imagine typing out the bits left on your profile page.

Imagine us reading it.
