In November 2007, BBC reported that a devout father Afazuddin Ali(36), from a village in West Bengal(India), married his 15-year-old daughter. To convince his wife Sakina to the marriage, he informed her that he was under a divine sanction from Allah in this regard. Her husband a deeply religious man, she could not believe that he would tell her a lie in Allah's name. Sakina agreed and the girl fell pregnant with the child of her father.
Allah used to adopt various means to communicate his divine instructions to Prophet Mohammad. When at the age of 52, the Prophet decided to marry Aisha, a child of 6, Allah sent his divine sanction in the form of dreams. For three consecutive nights, angel Gabriel showed a picture of Aisha and said, "This is your wife." So he had no other alternative but to carry out Allah's divine will as soon as possible. So he married Aisha in Medina, even defying Aisha's father Abu Bakr's opposition, because Muhammad was like a father to Aisha.
In the fifth year of Hijri, the Prophet—while peeping into the house of his adopted son Zeid—saw latter's newly-married wife Jainab naked and become so aroused that he had to rush home to quickly sleep with one of his many wives to cool himself down. Nonetheless, the Prophet because love-stricken by her beauty. But marrying daughters-in-law were considered incestuous in the Arab society. The most merciful Allah—always ready to make His beloved Prophet's every desire a reality—realized that Muhammad needed a divine sanction to defend himself from public scandal if he married her. So, without wasting time, Allah sent Gabriel with verse 33:37 of the Koran that reads:
"....You sought to hide in your heart what Allah was to reveal. You were afraid of man, although it would have been more proper to fear Allah. And when Zeid divorced his wife, We gave her to you in marriage, so that it should become legitimate for true believers to wed the wives of their adopted sons if they divorced them. Allah's will must needs to be done".
Realizing that this verse was inadequate to protect the Prophet as public scandal broke out, Allah revealed another verse, namely 33:38 to defend him:
"No blame shall be attached to the Prophet for doing what is sanctioned for him by Allah. ....."
The Prophet, a deeply religious man, evidently never proceeded with his mission without a sanction from Allah, be it marrying a new wife, or carrying out a raid in a kafir settlement, or to massacre kafir tribes. And Allah was ever ready to assist the Prophet with divine sanctions for the smooth-sailing of the his every design. For example, when more and more younger wives were inducted into the Prophet's harem and he desired to spend more time with the younger ones, Allah quickly sent divine sanction (Koran 33:51), which allowed him to set aside the elderly wives and take younger ones to bed by revealing:
"You may put off any of your wives you please and take to your bed any of them you please. Nor is it unlawful for you to receive any of those whom you have temporarily set aside. That is more proper, so that they may be contended and not vexed, and may all be pleased with what you give them. Allah knows what is in your hearts. Surely Allah is all-knowing and gracious"
Furthermore, to make it easy for the Prophet to marry any woman and to keep any number of wives, Allah revealed:
"O Prophet, We have made lawful for you the wives to whom you have granted dowries and the slave-girls whom Allah has given you as booty; the daughters of your paternal and maternal aunts who fled with you; and any believing woman who gives herself to the Prophet and whom the Prophet wishes to take in marriage. This privilege is yours alone, being granted to no other believer" (Koran-33/50).
The similar was the case with Afazuddin's marriage with his daughter. So, it would not be difficult for the reader to understand what type of God is Allah and the real nature of Allah's sanctions.
