All of the above, with the defeat being, the elimination of all forms of terrorism that have limited, and killed, the abilities of the American people, to control the form of democracy protecting the nation, its people. The political system that has evolved since the "New Deal", the "Great Society", and "Community Reinvestment", has enabled politicians to divert Americas wealth to support a form of democracy not of "The Peoples rule. That now lies in the hand of proportions throughout America, only unified of their need during election cycles, then up to their own devises after political powers of their favor have secured power in government. Proportions, and its government bureaucracy, both federal, and state, which are financed of "The Peoples", the REPUBLICS, works. You will find a good explaination of this in Hamilton's 9th, and Madison's 10th Federalist papers, and the results of "a republic has a safeguard" against individual ideals of a "pure democracy".
